Fair maiden

Upon the stones of Loomlight
Once stood a maiden fair
Upon the sea she gazed in fright
For Tom's return from war's ensnare

Between the birches entwined
Emerged old Brandon's poll
Hearing the song of Maiden's Chime
Is when the burden took its toll

Down there he knelt in longing
With a voice, one drenched with sorrow
Did he call her name of Olding:
"My fair, Marisa! Cease this folly. Return on the morrow!"

Upon the stones of Loomlight
There stayed the maiden fair
For days and days and many nights
Till' life vanished from her glair.

Old Tom's never coming back
The sea carried neither boats nor words
But the forlorn wails widows in black

"Oh, fair maiden. Oh, why?
Why's your heart turned to stone?
Oh, fair maiden.
Where's the glimmer your eyes once shone?
Oh, fair maiden.
We're amidst the cold with no way home!
Oh, fair maiden.
How much more must we atone?
Oh, fair maiden...
Will we always be alone?
Oh, fair maiden.
Why? Is this world so cruel...?"
