Some Mysteries Are Better Left Unsolved

(Y/n) POV)

The job went south. We had everything planned out, but we never expected an explosion to come out of nowhere. We ran from the enforcers, and somehow managed to escape. Mylo was an idiot as usual, and told some random bum that we got a nice haul. My knee's broken cause of the fight we got into. It should be fine, but I'll have to be taking it easy for a while. We're stationed in our little hideout where enforcers never come around. Vi's determined to beat my score. She's been fighting that machine Powder made for hours now. It'd be cool if she can beat my score. It'll give me a reason to heal quicker so I can take my spot back.

I watched Vi take on the boxing machine for like the tenth time from my spot on a couple boxes. I had my leg propped up, and somehow got it in a spot where it wouldn't hurt. I watched her score rise and rise as it neared mine.

Mylo: "Remind me why we bother with this dump."

Vi: "Vander said to lay low. Enforcers never come down here, so this is as good a place as any."

Claggor: "Oh, what's the matter, Mylo? You worried Powder's gonna beat you again?"

Mylo: "Hey, if she didn't keep fixing these things, I wouldn't keep missing." Powder then hops up from behind the counter making Mylo jump. She give Mylo a smug look as she plugs the range in again. In typical Mylo fashion, he missed every shot.

Vi: "You guys know I wouldn't take you on a job you couldn't handle, right?"

Mylo: "Are you kidding? That was the best job we've ever done. Maybe just don't take Powder next time." Powder glared at Mylo as she loaded her gun.

"I think not taking you would be better." Powder aims down the sights of the gun before she proceeds to hit every single target perfectly. I laugh as she gives Mylo a dirty look before walking over to an arcade machine. "We really need to get you a gun."

Powder: "Hey, guys? You should see this-" A guy from outside is then thrown through the window.

Enforcer: "Search them." Enforcers began filing in through the broken window as I hopped off my box.

Mylo: "Go ahead, idiots. We've got nothing." Powder casted a worried glance towards Vi and I. As an enforcers approached Powder, Vi looked to Claggor who nodded and pulled a lever. As he did, Powder ran away from the enforcer, and I came up and gave him a hard punch to his face. His helmet flew off, and he slammed into the other enforcer to his right. I grunted in pain before I took off running with the others. As we ran out of the room we got cut off by two other enforcers. I heard a whistle, and looked up seeing Ekko had let down a ladder for us.

Ekko: "Over here!" Vi was the first to jump onto the ladder. As we all began climing up, one of the enforcers grabbed Powder's leg. She managed to kick his arm off, and as she climbing up with us, Vi kicked the ladder down.

Vi: "You need to hide those crystals."

Powder: "Yeah, no shit."

Sevika: "We should hit them back! We've got the numbers to beat 'em!"

Rando: "Yeah. Let's teach them what it means to mess with us." The crowd shouted in agreement as Vander struck a match to light his smoke.

Vander: "You sure that's what you want?"

Rando: "Let's do it!"

Vander: "We crossed that bridge once before, and we all know how that ended."

Idiot: "You're just protected your kids."

Vander: "I'm protecting our people. I'd do the same for any one of you. We look out for each other. It's the way it's always been. This will blow ever. We just need to stand together."
