Vacation?
"Vacation sir? Are you sure?" Nagtaas ako ng kamay at tinanong iyon sa kanya.
His eyebrows furrowed.
"Yes ofcourse. Why? Don't you want to go?"
Umiling ako.
"No sir, I'm just curious of why you decided to cancel the upcoming album just for a vacation" I honestly answered.
He smiled again.
"My employees are far more important than anything else" Tinignan niya kaming lahat dito sa meeting room.
"Besides, we were being too hard to ourselves don't you think? How about relax a little bit then go back to work after, right?" He charmingly smiled again to gain our favors.
"Is it mandatory?" Some random staff asked while raising his hand.
"It is voluntary"
Nagsalita ako.
"Then I'm not going-"
"But anyone who come with us will receive a triple pay. All your expenses, documents, passports etc., will be free if you come" Pagpuputol niya sakin.
"We will only stay there for 2 weeks and each one of you will receive 50,000 php" he added.
Triple pay? Free expenses? 50,000 php?
It is a very tempting offer indeed and I can't help but to be suspicious about the hidden motive on this.
"So? Who wish to come?"
Isa-isa na silang nagtaas ng kamay hanggang sa ako nalang ang naiwang di nagtaas.
The CEO looks at me.
"What is your decision Ms Agustin?"
I was about to say no when suddenly, my phone rings.
Tumingin ako sa kanila at tumayo.
"Excuse me" I pressed the accept button at lumabas ng meeting room.
"Ate?"
"Oh Jenna, bakit ka napatawag? Nasa meeting ako ngayon"
"Ate si mama-"
Lumukob ang kaba sa puso ko ng marinig ko ang mga hikbi at iyak ng nakababata kong kapatid.
"Anong nangyari?"
"Ate k-kasi sabi ni doc, kailangan na daw maoperahan si mama kasi l-lumala na daw yung lagay niya"
My mother has a leukemia. Simula ng iwan kami ni Papa noong 19 years old palang ako, di na namin siya nakita at nadiagnosed si mama ng leukemia. It's been 4 years and even though my salary is 50,000 a month, it's not enough for her surgery. Kahit pumayag man ako sa vacation na yun, di parin sasapat para sa surgery ni Mama.
"Pupunta ako diyan okay? Just calm down and look after Mama. Wait me there" I said and hung up.
Bumalik ako ng meeting room at kinuha ang bag ko.
"Sorry I have emergency, I will just comeback tomorrow"
"What happened?" Logan asked.
"My mom's in the hospital I gotta go"
