A new day finally rose from the dead. But everything looked the same. The same void and the same repulsive outlook to a new day.

Eric quietly crept into Cebell's room and swiftly moved with elegant steps across the carpet floor. Trying not to make any sort of sound, he slowly crept across the carpet. He couldn't help but smile, she was quite cute sleeping. His slender fingers gently wrapped around her shoulder as he shook her. Cebell slowly opened her eyes and turned her head towards him.

"Hm?"

"It's time to get up. Take as long as you need to get up, just know that breakfast is on the table." A small yawn suddenly escaped her lips as she sat up. He soon left her to wake up. She still wondered why was he being so nice to her? After all, they barely knew each other. Not to mention. . . he looked like a modern-day version of a man who walked out of a Dracula movie.

Cebell still had her suspicions about the man. She wasn't going to let her guard down for one minute, especially for a very good-looking and refined man. Her face suddenly turned flush red. Did she really think he was handsome? After all, it was considered the end of the world. What were the chances of meeting a very handsome man?

She slowly leaned up and stretched her arms high above her head. She took a minute to rub away the sleep from her eyes. After sitting there for a few minutes she made her way to the washroom that was connected to her room and gasped when she saw her hair was in every direction. She almost looked like one of the family members of the Addams Family. Well. . . maybe that wasn't totally how she looked, but she took pride in her long hair.

Cebell opened a white drawer from the sink and saw a small comb she could use. She thought back to the day when the sun disappeared. Cebell just got a call that day that her brother got into an accident. She was in the middle of a study session in her college. Without a second thought, she left the class without saying a word and drove to the hospital. She didn't care at the moment of the repercussions. Once she got to the hospital she ran to the front desk and demanded to see her brother. The nurse that was taking care of him that evening, without a second thought, showed her to the patient's room.

Cebell was horrified by what she saw. Her brother was caked in blood, his hair still wet and sticking to his forehead. She couldn't help but bring a hand up to her mouth. Her eyes darted to the leather straps that bounded his wrists and feet to the bed.

"What did he do. . .?" Cebell's head turned slowly to the nurse. The nurse went to open her mouth but to only close it as she left the room. With slow steps, Cebell walked slowly over to him. Many tubes were attached to him as she heard a beeping sound in the background.

Her feet then came to a halt when she saw two markings near his neck. With two fingers, she tilted his head to the side to see two small holes in his neck that oozed with blood. It looked fresh.

Suddenly, her ears picked up a loud, solid, beep sound. Her head darted over to the pulse oximeter, where a solid red line went across the screen. She wasted no time and ran out of the hospital room.

"Nurse!" Cebell shouted across the hallway. She wailed her hands for the nurse to hurry up and save her brother. Her heart continued to beat rapidly as the blond nurse rushed into the room to help him. Cebell tried waiting patiently for the nurse to bring him back to life. The nurse continued the CPR on him, but the lights started to flicker. Cebell continued to stare at her lifeless brother. The lights continued to flicker. Then the lights went out. Suddenly, emergency generations kicked on and turned the lights back on.

The nurse let out a blood-curdling scream when a huge beam of light flashed across the sky. The window shattered to pieces as a gust of wind blew in and knocked both of them over. Cebell gasped for air as she felt the wind get knocked out of her. She slowly leaned up her head to see his long, slender, fingers twitch and curl. Her heart skipped a beat knowing that he was alive. Or was he?
