The Butterfly Affect || Stranger Things x OC

Nightmares !

Melly' felt water at her feet and her eyes shot open, but she wasn't awake. She was in her 'dream world,' as she likes to call it.

I don't know if it's possible, but it feels as if the room got colder since the last time Melly was here.

"You're awake," Melly heard El say from behind her. It was as if she knew what Mel was thinking.

It was almost as if Eleven just appeared out of thin air.

"What?" Melly responds, confused as ever.

"It isn't a dream. I'm talking to you."

"What are you talking about? How are we talking? You're in the basement and I'm on the second floor. I'm so confused!"

"Powers. Telepathy. Make sense?"

"Not really, no. I didn't think I had powers."

All of a sudden, the dark room melts into a bright hospital room, as if Mel and El were having a flashback.

"Congratulations, it's twins," a man with white hair says. Mel looks over at El, only to see a terrified look on her face.

"What do you mean Doctor Brenner? We didn't even want one baby. What are we to do with two," a man that looks almost exactly like Mr. Harrington says rudely, almost as if he were disgusted.

Wait, that is Mr. Harrington!

"I can take them for you. They look like they have great potential," the white-haired man replied with a sickly smile on his face.

"You can have the second one. People will be suspicious if we show up at home without a baby. Steve will be devastated," Mr. Harrington replies.

"Yes, take the second one. No one will miss her since no one will know about her," a woman, presumably the mother of the two babies, says.

"Very well. Here you go," Doctor Brenner says, handing the first baby to the woman. He walks away with the second, not looking back once.

The room melts again. This time, into Melly's grandma's house.

"Hey, Steve. Wake up! Your baby sister is here," Mr. Harrington says, shaking the young boy awake.

His eyes widened at the sight of his little sister. "Melly!" he exclaims looking at her from a small distance.

The Harringtons thought they were in the clear, that no one would know about the second baby.

Suddenly, the realization hits Mel like a brick. Mel and El were twins! El was taken away when she was first born because her parents didn't want either of them. They just decided to keep one to make themselves look good.

The room melted back into the dark room that the two had previously been in before.

They ran to each other and hugged like they were going to lose each other if they let go.

All of a sudden, Mel wakes up crying. The dream felt very fabricated but she didn't know why.

She was clinging tightly to Mike, instead of El.

"I have to go see El," Mel says, pulling away from Mike and bolting down the stairs, trying to stay as quiet as she can.

Mike was confused but didn't question it.

He let them be for a while.

When he went downstairs, he saw the two girls asleep on the couch, clinging to each other.

He grabbed a blanket and draped it over the two, knowing that he'll find out what happened in the morning.
