Always yearning for your approval,
I know I deserve better than you.
But this yearning for your approval,
It's like an addiction I cannot kick.
I try so hard to love myself,
But you never showed me how.
You showed me how to hate myself,
I can do that like an expert.
Yet I still yearn for your approval.

I want your approval,
It's all I ever seem to want.
I hate myself divinely,
Can't you see how good I am at that?
I hate myself so expertly,
Can't you see how good I am at that?
Yet still no approval.

What am I doing wrong?
I try to love myself,
I do, can you see?

Am I good enough yet?
Never good enough,
Not good enough for you.
My life revolves around it,
Around waiting for approval from you.
