Ruth Foster
"Ah, so we meet again." Getting in to see Elle was a struggle. Orion wasn't lying when she said she hired extra guards. I have to threaten them.
"I am the wife of Orion king, and you're trying to keep me away? If I call her now, she'll have your heads," I threatened, "She'll kill you all."
Of course I was bluffing, but they bought it after I help up my shiny wedding ring. "Now leave." I said, and they did. Can't have people watching.
I hate that I have to be here, but Orion's hiding something from me, and only she'd know what. "Elle," I take a breath, and hold up the knife that I brought. I stole it from Orion's room. That woman has too many pocket knives, "Tell me the truth, and you get to die," I can't kill her, she'll have to do it herself. If Orion gets upset at me, then so be it.
"And how do I know you'll keep your word?"
How does she know that I won't? "Because I would like nothing more than see you dead," I tell her the truth, the fact that she's been with Orion sexually, angers me. I understand that many other woman have been with her, but Elle . . . I hate her guts.
Elle looks lifeless, her skin, pale, and I think back to the first time I saw her. So full of life, so beautiful, but now she looks like a zombie. I almost feel bad for her, bad that life turned out this way.
What happened that turned her into this?
"Orion's father. I need to know everything." I speak, waving the knife up, "I'll know if you lie."
Elle nods, "Like I said before, I have no reason to lie to you, Ruth. All I want is to die, and so if you're willing to give me that, then I'll give you anything."
I give her a slight nod, signaling for her to start talking, which she does. "My father was much like Orion's, which is why they got along so well."
"Orion and I liked sex. It wasn't what you guys had, it wasn't love, and she certainly didn't love me. It was great for a while. We were together since she was seventeen, such a long time." My heart drops. I knew they were together for years, but not years.
On the other hand, hearing that Orion didn't love her, makes my heart do a cartwheel, and the worst part is, I don't feel bad about it. I'm the only one she has loved, it makes me feel special.
"I tried to make her care, but couldn't," Elle hesitates to continue, "I spent time at her house, I knew her brothers, and I loved one of them." Who?
