(Part 3: Content Strategy, will be published in the future. Thank you for your patience!)

Tips on Creating Content:

1. BATCH please

Why's batching so great? Because making content, writing captions, and putting hashtags all use different parts of our brains. Compartmentalize these tasks for efficiency. Make 2 weeks' work of content, then write the captions, then put the hashtags.

But do not OVERBATCH.

It's good to make 2 weeks' worth of content. Get feedback, improve, create better stuff.

But if you make 3 months' work of content, you may realize one type of content you made does not perform well with your audience. Will you post that type or scrap that? After all you did take the effort to create it.

Additionally, if you overbatch, you will grow tired towards the later part of the process. It will show in your content, especially if you make VIDEOS, that you are tired. Less energy, and viewers may enjoy the video less.

2. Take several versions of a good content and post them separately.

For example if you clicked a tonne of beautiful nature pictures, instead of posting them all in a carousel, split them into groups of 2-3 pictures. Or you can put them as single image PHOTO posts.

3. DIVERSIFY your content.

For example, let's say you only post photos. One day, you decide to post a carousel.

It. Will. Flop.

Why? Because your audience is used to being shown PHOTOS- a particular type of post. They're not used to carousels- and carousels take longer to go through than photos. They are less likely to engage. The algorithm notices your audience didn't respond well, and decreases your reach.

So, if you want to post all types of content on Instagram, make sure you do them regularly. Have photos, carousels, and videos in your content strategy.

If you only want to post photos and carousels, then alternate between the 2.

If you want to post photos, carousels, Reels, videos- all of that!- make sure you post each every week. (But you can focus more on Reels and Videos).

BUUUT- there's always a but, if you're just starting out, feel free to only use just Reels. Reels give most exposure. Once you have a solid audience base, you can branch out into more. Remember to apply the tips above!

Another reason to diversify your content: it's more interesting to your audience, plus you can test which you audience responds best to. If they respond best to Reels, on days that you get most traffic, post Reels.

Also, Instagram has all these features, they want you to use them!

4. Aesthetics!

All your instagram content is placed on a grid, in your Feed.

This is Jade Beason's feed. It's pretty.

But does YOUR feed need to be pretty? Will discuss that LATER, but if you have your mind made up, plan your content- and schedule them, accordingly.

5. Before you go somewhere, you may want to plan out your content.

Let's say you're a nature photographer and you're going on vacation. This is a good chance to create a lot of content, so PLAN AHEAD. Take your gear with you.

6. If you get an idea, write it down. You'll forget it later, if you're anything like me.

7. TIME BLOCK.

Set specific periods to do one type of task, eg, creating content for 1 hour every monday.

8. Repurpose your old content.
