Kingdom's Capital
Taehyung's POV
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky bled with shades of red and orange, marking the end of the day. It was as if the earth itself was turning its back, rotating on its axis as time shifted into the cold grip of night.
There, under the dimming sky, stood a crowd of men—some of my gundae, some of the Royal King's men—watching a scene they’d grown accustomed to by now. The execution of betrayal. A routine for someone like me.
I am Kim Taehyung. The cruel Gunju of Kim Kingdom.
The name Taehyung sends a shiver through the air. Not only am I feared, but so is my group—Bangtan. A name whispered in terror by our enemies, and spoken with respect by our allies. We are the most trusted, the most feared, and yes—the most ruthless.
Three men stood before me, trembling, begging for their lives. Pleading for mercy, but there was no mercy to be found.
“Please… just spare us this once…” they begged, their voices breaking with desperation. But I remained seated in my chair, a cold, sinister grin spreading across my face as I watched them squirm.
People often say my face doesn’t reflect my nature. They say I have an aura, an intense presence that’s beyond this world. Some even call it dark, intimidating—like my mere gaze could turn men into corpses.
They’re right. But not in the way they think.
I might seem calm, composed, even charming. But don’t be fooled. My face lies. It always has.
Betrayal… It’s the one thing I can’t tolerate. I hate it more than anything. I despise liars, and I despise those who turn their backs on us. They think they can get away with it. They think they can betray the kingdom, and there will be no consequence.
But they’re wrong. They always are.
I stood slowly from my seat, my smirk turning into a vicious grin. The sight of these men—shivering, half-naked in the cold—only fueled the fire inside me. They’d made their choice, and now they would pay.
Taking a step to the left, I approached the fire where iron rods burned red-hot, glowing like coals from the pits of hell. I grabbed one of the rods, letting it burn my hand briefly before I moved toward the men.
Their eyes widened in horror as I pressed the searing iron to their fresh wounds. They screamed, their bodies writhing in agony, their cries echoing through the air.
“Did you think you could betray us and walk away unscathed?” I sneered. “I warned you. I gave you a choice, but now… now you’ll face the consequences.”
The bitter taste of betrayal lingered in my mouth as I watched them writhe. My men had done their part, and now it was my turn to finish the job.
As the screams filled the air, Seokjin, one of my most trusted commanders, stepped forward from the crowd. His voice was calm, yet determined.
“Gunju Taehyung, let me handle this. I won’t return until I know their full plan.”
Seokjin. Always the calm one. The strategist. He had a way of seeing through the chaos. I nodded, allowing him to take charge, knowing that if anyone could uncover the truth behind this betrayal, it was him.
