Hi everyone !

First, I would like to thank you for choosing to read my OS =)

/!\ WARNING /!\
This story is the translation of an OS I first wrote in French, Rentrer chez soi. Like you probably guess it, I'm French and it's the first time that I try this exercise. So I probably made some mistakes and I apologize for them. You can tell me if it the case. It will help me to improve my English. But please, be indulgent.

Now it's said, I have one word to add : enjoy !

Central City was sleeping since a long time when Barry came home. But all the lights in the loft were still alight.

Barry sighed. It was so pleasant to finally be home. If coming home was always a great moment, someday the reward was more appreciable... and deserved ! Barry hadn't had a bad day. But his day was emotionally rich, very rich, maybe even too rich. And an overflow of excitement, negative like positive, was always exhausting.

It started right from dawn. Barry had arrived at the precinct on time, for once. But Captain Singh, who was obviously not in a good mood, had still come after the young CSI and stunned him with plenty of urgent things to do for the previous day, so many things that Barry knew it would be hard to do everything during his working day, even with his superspeed. Of course, the centrifuge had again decided to be out of order. And it was without counting the three attacks of metahumans which occured in town during the day. If the first two of them were without any doubt pure criminal acts, the last one was just caused by a poor guy, all the most honest, who had lost the control of his telekinesis abilities, discovering them by the way, during rush hour at Jitters. At first sight, the situation seemed to be solved without too much effort. But the mishap cost the Flash to receive a flying table head-on and Barry to spend an hour in the medbay at S.T.A.R. Labs until his several wounds on his face healed and his broken ribs made him suffer a little bit less. Thankfully, Singh didn't notice his CSI was missing and the young man miraculously succeeded in closing all his files before the end of the day.

At least, Barry thought it was the end of his day. But Cisco had decided otherwise. The S.T.A.R. Labs engineers in advanced technologies had insisted on testing the last gadget he built for the Flash suit and the speedster had been forced to accept. Anyway, if he had refused, Vibe would come get him and forcibly bring him to S.T.A.R. Labs. And of course, while he was running at superspeed through the city alight by the golden glows of the sunset, breaking some windows on his way, Barry had accidentally ended up in the future. And this trip in the future was... The young man hadn't the right words to describe what he saw, what he learnt, what he felt during these few hours out of his time. When he came back in the present, the night had completely fallen on Central City. And it was the turn of Caitlin to keep him from going home. The biology engineer absolutely wanted him to run a series of medical tests. Barry had tried to refuse, desperately wishing to go home. But Killer Frost had threatened him to cut his tendon once again. So, once again, he had no other choice but to accept it.

It was for all these reasons that coming home, finding back his quiet warmth and comfort, was particularly delicious tonight. And the most important, he really wanted to be back to Iris, his wonderful wife, his lightning rod.

He found her asleep on the couch. It seemed that she tried to stay awake until he came back. But the half-open grounded book said that the attempt was unsuccessful.

Barry picked up the book to put it on the coffee table, kneeled next to her and, with a gentle move, put back a stubborn strand of hair behind her ear, revealing entirely her soft face. One again, Barry lost his words. He couldn't describe everything he felt at this moment. Looking at the woman he loved so much, who was sleeping so peacefully, was priceless. And this night more than ever.

Ah... if she knew what he learned in the future... But she wouldn't learn it before a few days, he knew it.

He couldn't hold his smile. It was unusual and funny to know what he knew before her. For regular couples, it was the opposite, her before him. But they weren't a regular couple. They were Barry and Iris. They were The Flash.

A shiver running through the young woman's body who was only wearing light pajamas and barely covered by the plaid woke up Barry from his contemplation. Thinking she would be more comfortable in a bed but not wishing to wake her, he put an arm behind her back and passed the other one under her knees to bring her with all his delicacy and tenderness to their room.

At halfway, Iris started to stir smoothly and her eyes thrilled but never opened.

Barry, you're home ? she whispered with a sleepy voice.

I'm home, he softly answered.

When were you ?

Barry's smile grew. They were definitely The Flash.

Next week. March 14th.

Your birthday? Oh no... Don't tell me you already know my gift for you. Because I absolutely have no idea of what it will be.

But Barry knew.

Moreover, I was sick all day, she groaned. I wasn't able to focus on something. If you already know, would you directly tell me what it is ? So I will not have to rack my head to find an idea.

It really was tempting to reveal it to her. Actually, he really wanted to share this wonderful news with her. But he had the feeling he must let her find it on her own. So he didn't say anything.

Even though he would do it, she wouldn't hear him. Iris had just fallen asleep once again after whispering her ease to be in Barry's arms.

This is how they reached their room. With the same delicacy he took her and brought her here, Barry laid her on the bed.

Your gift will be perfect, I'm sure of it, he said kissing her forehead.

The speedster got changed, leaving his daily clothes for the sweatpants he wore to sleep, using his superspeed to come lay down next to his wife as fast as he could. Barely he was lain she immediately came cuddle in her husband's arms.

I love you Iris, he whispered, kissing once again her forehead.

And it was his turn to fall asleep, a hand lovely placed on the belly of the young woman.
