"yes, shoyo, yes pirates did really exist" sugawara repeated for the tenth time as hinata's eyes lit up again and he picked up his new pirate figurine.

"yes! pirates for the win!" hinata yelled as he began running around the room with his figurine, making it jump from table to counter to box to whatever was in the way until eventually, the pirate was back on its plastic ship and sailing through the carpet sea.

"hmph, pirates..." tsukishima almost rolled his eyes as he clutched his spider-man figurine, eyeing hinata who clearly was too busy making up an indescribable pirate scenario in his head.

"and so, firelocks shoyo the pirate set out on a journey!" hinata spoke loudly, swaying the ship from side to side as the invisible waves hit it. "he was going to find the best and most pretty and most expensive treasure in the world and he needs a friend!" hinata exclaimed.

suddenly, out of nowhere, yamaguchi appeared, holding another pirate figurine. "the kelp man guchi is here to be your friend, firelocks shoyo the pirate!" he said as he set the figurine into the ship, making it cling to sail as the waves got bigger. the sea is rowdy today, for sure, especially for two pirates on a trip.

"uh, what treasure are we looking for?" hinata asked, yamaguchi shrugged, and not even a second later ran up to sugawara who was peacefully folding away clothes. "sugawara-san!"

"yes, tadashi?" sugawara asked, turning to the boy.

"what is a pirate treasure? the movie never showed..." yamaguchi asked. well, it wasn't a movie, pirate movies are too brutal for kids this age and so sugawara did the mistake of turning on a show on the history channel in which pirates were discussed, hinata became obsessed, not that it's a bad thing - he's a kid and this might just be the first thing he is truly into.

"a lot and a lot and a lot of gold and diamonds, and jewelry but!" sugawara left them on a high note, he watched as even tsukishima and kageyama listened in from their activities.

"but?" hinata got closer. "bigger treasure?"

"yes, the biggest treasure for pirates is, of course, friendship and all the friends they make along the way!" sugawara said and watched as hinata jumped up and down excitedly, once again grabbing his figurine and happily running around the room, onto his bed, off his bed and so on.

it's been five days since sugawara started working at daichi's house and a lot of things have changed, well, at least in sugawara's eyes. the first thing he did was clean. he distracted the kids with tv, where they saw the pirates and spider-man, while he himself did a deep clean of the entire house.

what items did he find? well, apart from kilograms of dust, he discovered fake plants that have been watered one too many times by, presumably, daichi. in the drawers, which now contain various notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other things the kids might want and need, sugawara found a questionable amount of ammo (he didn't question it, just left it on daichi's desk and it was gone the next morning.) and various small things from various countries.

also postcards. old postcards from his colleagues. and a gun. he found a gun which he had to hide as hinata approached him while he was inspecting it. he wouldn't have panicked if it was anyone else, but hinata seemed to be the leader of the little group they had so if hinata said "hey suga-san, can i play with that?", the others would undoubtedly follow him.

overall, sugawara wasn't too alarmed by what he found, in his life he has learned to not stick his nose into other people's business. and so, he left everything on daichi's table, and then it was gone.
