We walk in and see a guy with a gun. "Anybody infected?" The man asks. "One of our group was. He didnt make it" ric says. "Why are you here and want do you want?" The man quickly asks. "A chance". "That's asking an awful lot these days" "I know" . He looks over all of us. "You do a blood test. That's the price of admission" he says.
"We can do that" rick nods. "If you got stuff to bring in, do it now. Once this door closes it stays closed" the man said. We went outside and grabbed our stuff, once it was all in the door closed and we went into an elevator. "Vi. Close the door and kill the power up here" the man said as he pressed a button.
"Doctors always go around packing heat like that?" Daryl asks. "There was a lot of them. I got used to it" he says. The elevator stops and we get out. "Are we underground?" Carol asks. "Are you claustrophobic?" "A little" "try not to think about it". We walk into a big room "vi, bring up the lights in the big room" Jenner says. Lights turn on and theres a whole bunch of computers, but other than that, empty. "Where are your people? The other doctors, staff?" Rick asks. "Its just me." Jenner says. "What about the person you were talking to? Vi?" Lori asks. "Vi, say hello to our guests" he says. "Hello guests, welcome" the computer says. "Noone else".
I go in for my blood test. "This might sting a little" jenner says. He stabs the needle in my right arm. It feels like my blood is being sucked out of me. I go back out and sit next to Glenn. "I hate needles" I said. After everyone was done we had supper. "You know in Italy children have a little bit of wine with dinner" dale laughs "and in france!"
"When carl is in italy or France he can have some" lori says. "Oh come on! What's it gonna hurt?" Rick laughs. "Fine" lori says. Dale comes over and pours some in his glass. He takes a sip of it and makes a disgusted face. We all laugh "not you glenn" Daryl says looking back at me and him. "What?" He asks. "Keep drinking little man, I wanna see how red your face can get" daryl laughs. Rick stands up and clings on his glass. "I dont think we've thanked our host properly" rick says. "He is more than our host." Tdog adds. We all agree. "BOOYA" Daryl yells. We all follow after him. "Hey glenn you should give me a sip" I say. "No." "Glenn, lori let Carl have some. Carl's like 11" "fine" he hands me the bottle and I take a sip. "Not half bad" I say and get my own from the cooler. Glenn laughs "geez y/n".
"So when are you gonna tell us what happened to the other people here?" Shane asks, completely ruining the mood. "When things got bad, a lot of people just left. Went off to be with their families. And when things got worse, the military came in, the rest bolted. A lot of them couldnt walk through the door. They committed suicide." Jenner says. "Why didnt you leave?" Andrea asks. "I just kept working. Hoping to do some good." "Dude you are such a buzzkill, man" glenn says to shane. I laugh while shane rolls his eyes.
We walked down a hallway. "Most of the power is down. The couches are comfortable and cots are in the closets. Theres a rec room that the kids might enjoy. Just dont plug in the video games ok? If you go shower go easy on the hot water" he says before walking away. Glenn looks at all of us. "Hot water?" He says with a smile. We all go in the showers. I look at myself in the mirror. I look disgusting. I have a cut on my right cheek, dirt all over me and my hair is just a mess.
The water feels so nice. I thought I would never feel warm water again. I finally got out of the shower and changed. I walked into the room where me and glenn were sleeping. "Couch or bed?" He asks. "Couch" I say. I go lay down. But the minute I close my eyes the images of amy come back. The thought of jim. I feel the tears coming back into my eyes. I cant fight them this time. I feel the tears rolling down my cheeks and glenn must've heard me sniffling because he comes up to me "are you okay?" He asks. "No." "Come here" he says. I get up and sit on the cot. He lays down and so do I. He wraps his arms around me and let's me cry into his chest. It reminds me of my mom and how this is what we would do whenever I had a bad day. Glenn was a father to me and nothing could change that.
I woke up the next morning to eggs. Jenner showed us the process of how people turned into walkers. And how the little lights resemble who you are. Then he shows how the brain comes back with a little spark. Not the part that makes you human, just a part of the brain, that makes you wanna eat people pretty much. "You have no idea what it is do you?" Andrea asks. They are all arguing but I tune them out. Does it really matter what it exactly is? Either way their trying to kill us.
"What does the clock mean? Its counting down. What happens at zero?" Dale asks. "The basement generators run out of fuel." "And then?" Rick questions "vi what happens when the power runs out?" Rick asks. "When the power runs out, faculty wide decontamination will occur"
We run to the basement. "Decontamination. What does that mean?" Glenn asks. We find the fuel cans, all of them empty. "This is not good" I say. We go back upstairs. "Jenner what's happening" rick demands. "Its getting rid of all unnecessary power." "It was the french. They thought they had a cure" jenner says. "What happened?" Jaqui asks. "I don't care. Everybody grab your things. We're getting out of here now!" Rick yells. As we start running to the door it closes. An alarm starts to sound.
I grab onto glenn. "What's happening?" I ask. "WHY WOULD YOU LOCK US IN HERE?" glenn yelled. "What happens in 28 minutes?" Rick asks. "YOU KNOW WHAT THIS PLACE IS?! WE PROTECTED THE PUBLIC FROM VERY NASTY STUFF!" He goes and sits down. "In the event of a catastrophic failure, h.i.t.s are deployed so noone can get out." He says. "What are h.i.ts" rick asks. "Vi- define" "high- impulse, thermobaric fuel-air explosives" it says. My eyes go wide and a choked sob comes out. "YOURE GONNA BLOW US UP?!" I scream. Glenn pulls me back. "We'll get out. Somehow. We'll get out"
Me, Daryl, rick and glenn start hitting stuff on the door "OPEN THE DAMN DOOR" Daryl screams. We continue hitting the door until it finally opens. We run to the outside. "THIS GLASS IS BULLETPROOF" Daryl yells. Tdog starts to hit it with a chair. Then rick screams "GET DOWN! I HAVE A GRENADE" glenn grabs me and we jump to the side. Hes basically on top of me. I hear a boom and we are running again. We run to the rv. "WAIT FOR THEM" I yell as dale and andrea jump out. Wheres jaqui? They come into the rv and we hear a loud boom. The cdc falls apart. "WE NEED TO GO" shane yells as glenn starts to drive. I look over my shoulder to andrea and dale "what happened to jaqui?" "She stayed". Well, we're back on the road.
