Our love blossomed quickly into a dark red rose
But I didn't know of the fatal thorns that would grow
Our love weaved and thrived through the holes in my heart
Blood stained the pure growing green, we could never be apart
I couldn't breathe, yet I didn't know how to leave
Toxicity filled my lungs, making me gasp and seek new air
I saw a tulip so beautiful and bright
I tried to reach towards its light
But your vines dug deep into my skin, roses spread and ate me from within
I never got that breath of fresh air
My eyes glossed over and gave you that empty stare
