Death of the loved ones

It's been 2 months since Sakshi's wedding. The value of my company is increasing steadily. My company now has 37 employees, which includes 20 photographers. I have done 6 big events and 15 small events.

I have 4 events for Dussehra which are starting in two days. I am excited, busy, and exhausted. Ours is not just a photo studio, it's a event organizing company.

I am good at the business part but I am learning.

Drinking 4th cup of hot chocolate, I was reviewing the contracts for Diwali, Christmas and New Year events. Technically it's the first cup, considering its 4 AM.

I heard my phone ringtone. After the rummage through the files on my desk, I found my phone.

It was my dad.

"Hi dad."

"Hello" hearing a stranger's voice. I was alerted.

"Hello sir, this is.."

"I am calling the Public hospital. Mr. Ravindra Kumar has got in an accident this morning-"

"How is he now?" I asked impatiently as I grabbed my scarf, keys, and bag.

"Sorry to say this ma'am but he is dead. Before the paramedics...." I didn't hear anything else, I couldn't.

"I am coming. It may take 3 hours, in the meantime one of my relatives will come there." I said and cut the call.

I opened my speed dial and called my dad's assistant, Mathew.

"Uncle..."

"Hi Rithu, Is everything alright?"

"Uncle, dad's in hospital. They are telling dad is dead, can you go and check? He is in Public Hospital."

"Sure. I will call back."

"Thank you, uncle."

The first tear drop rolled down my cheek, understanding my dad's no more. My mom died before I even knew. I asked my dad to get married again but he said he won't trust anyone with me. As I grew up, the distance between my dad and me increased, both physically and mentally.

I love him but our thoughts always contradict. He is a businessman and I am someone who is pursuing their hobby in my dad's words.

I walked to the main road. Luckily I got a taxi. I got in and started my journey towards the airport.

I opened my phone to book a ticket. I looked at my uncle's message saying he is no more.

My hands started shaking really badly. I couldn't open anything in that terror. I managed to call rishi.

"Rithu, You should stop calling me this early. Some humans actually sleep at this time." The normal Rithu would have snapped back but I felt wrong. I shouldn't have called and disturbed him.

"Ri-Rishi.."

"What's wrong? Are you crying? "

"Dad got into an accident."

"He will be just fine. Don't worry. Where are you?"

"No, He died, on the spot. And please do book a ticket to Mumbai. I couldn't bring myself to tap any keys."

"Don't worry. I am starting too. Be strong."

"Hmm..."

He cut the call. I got a ticket for a flight in 2 hours.
