Chapter 11

NIGHT WALK

"I heard you got sick, Rebecca. Are you okay now?" My father asked when he made a video call this afternoon.

"Yes, just a simple fever..." Kibit balikat ko.

Tumaas ang kilay niya. He's always like this when he gets annoyed with my answers. Tumataas ang kilay at mabigat ang paghinga. I chuckled, how I missed teasing my dad.

"Simple, huh? Did you know that-"

"A simple sick can get worse..." Pagpapatuloy ko sa sasabihin niya.

He groaned as I mentally laugh. My father and his 'saying.'

"Don't worry, Dad. I'm perfectly fine. Besides, Morgan and Phoenix are here..."

He sighed. "You can't always rely on them, ma princesse."

Natahimik ako at ramdam ko ang pagbabago ng aking reaksyon.

"I don't usually rely on them. I have bodyguards to take care of me too, that's their purpose, dad." Hindi mapigilang sagot ko.

"That's not what I mean, Becca..."

"Then what?" Umingos ako. "If I could do things on my own, I would ask them to stop guarding me."

"Okay, okay..." He sighed. "What a pride, my daughter! You really are a mini Sienna Celeste."

I almost rolled my eyes. "Of course. She's my lovely mother, after all."

Doon natapos ang usapan namin. After that I went to the garden to play with my cat. Tapos na ang klase ko dahil half day lang kami ngayon. And there's more!

Medyo nakakasundo ko na si Evander. Well, siya lang kasi 'yong nagfirst move para makausap ako. Medyo natuwa naman ako dahil kaya niyang sumabay sa mood ko. Like, when I'm quiet, he'll be quiet too. Kapag nagsusungit naman ako ay hindi siya nao-offend! So far, he's great. I like him as my not-so-close-friend.

I caressed my cat's fur, nagsumiksik naman siya sa hita ko at doon tumagilid ng higa. Somehow, this cat is just like me, my attitude. He was also lazy and quiet. Hindi ko nga ata narinig na nag-meow 'to.

"Do you want a new house, Midnight? How about food? Should I find you a wife so that you are not alone?" Parang tanga kong kausap dito.

And finally, he make a meow-sound!

"Alin sa tatlo ang gusto mo?" I chuckled.

"House?" He just moved.

"Hmm, food?" Kiniskis niya lang ang katawan niya sa hita ko.

Ah, I shrugged and lift him up. Pinaharap ko siya sakin habang buhat ko siya sa ere.

"You want a cat wife, huh?" He meowed and I laughed.

Oh, my god. My cat is so smart! Just like me, tho.

Natigil ako sa pagtawa nang makarinig ako ng tunog ng camera. Slowly, I looked at the glass door, and there I saw Morgan holding a DSLR. I gritted my teeth.

"Morgan!"

"Opps..." He grinned. "That was a cute moment of you, Becca, come on. Look, ang ganda ng ngiti mo dito..." Ang lakas pa ng loob niyang ipinakita sakin 'yon!

"Delete it!" Sigaw ko pa.

"Why would I? Once in a blue moon kalang kung ngumiti! Ang swerte ko pa nga ngayon dahil nakuhanan ko pa." Ngumuso pa siya doon.

"I don't care! I probably look like an idiot there..."

"What?" Tumawa siya. "How can you say that? Sa lahat ng binantayan ko ikaw ang pinaka maganda..."
