I don't know about this ship, some people say the age gap is too big, some say it's not? so i'll try to look at both point of views.

and for hazel, who was 13-14 and in a relationship with a 16 year old, what was the need? couldn't she and frank have simply been friends? does rick know that girls and boys can be friends without there being romantic feelings?

frazel- ugh we've gotten into this but frazel was so unnecessary considering hazel's age.. if she was 16 or 15 like the rest of them i honestly wouldn't have much problem with it and might even like it because their personalities are compatible in my eyes! but the fact that from the jump she was shoved into that relationship by rick is so gross because frazel subtext was in son of neptune from the very start while she was being described as 13?? just really weird even though i don't like how everyone was paired up, if she was older i would be behind it.

now these were enought to make me dislike the ship, but i hadn't seen the whole story yet. What about the Pro-frazels? I still wanted to take a look at them .

I can't be the only one who feels that frazel isn't creepy? first of all, it's a very innocent and pure relationship. I believe they've only kissed 2 times, and I certainly can't see them doing anything more than a quick peck on the lips.

now, lets do some math, since uncle rick cannot:

Hazel turns 13 on December 17, 1942, when she is brought back to life by Nico, she is brought to camp jupiter in september 2009. We know this because she had met Jason before he went missing in October 2009. She would turn 14 3 months later in December. the climax of son of neptune takes place on June 24th, Franks birthday is June 5th, which means he had only turned 16 a few days ago, and has been 16 for only 2 months by blood of olympus. This means that Hazel was 14 when she met Frank, and Frank was 15. When they begin dating, Hazel is 14 while Frank is 16, but this is only because we have not yet reached Hazel's birthday in this year. The events of heroes of olympus take place during the months between their two birthdays, the months where Frank who would normally only be a year older is actually 2 years older. Thus, they are 1 year, 6 months, and 12 days apart.

If we use the logic that Hazel turned 13 that year instead of 14, since supposedly she was resurrected after what would have been her 14th birthday, and therefore would have been 13 in heroes of olympus, than she is still only 2 years, 6 months, and 12 days apart. That's not bad in my opinion. especially considering that once they become adults, those 2 years will be completely obsolete. Though this is technically canon, its incorrect math and doesn't make sense timeline wise, it's an oversight on Rick Riordan's part, but whatever i'm willing to excuse it.

Then, once we see them in the tyrant tomb, Hazel is 14 while Frank is still 16. because once again, the book takes place in between their birthdays. So in conclusion, the higher, but incorrect estimate is 2 years, and the lower, what its actually supposed to be estimate is 1 year.

yeah, the results were mixed [ i still believe the anti frazels though, the age gap weirds me out ] so y'know i did the easiest thing [ since i DID NOT want to re-read any of the books in the ABSOLUTE DUMPSTER FIRE known as HoO ] and googled their age gap.
