~Y/N POV~

It's been a week since I've been in this hell hole.

I only know so much because when the food is slid from the little hatch under the door, I can see whether it would be dark or day. That way it helps me keep track of the days and I managed to find a very small rock to carve tally marks on the wall behind me.

In fact we're on day eight now.

I know that because this is the eighth day of light I've seen flash through the hatch when stale bread and water were pushed through the gap. I haven't eaten it yet as much as I hate to but it's got to do me if that's all I'm getting.

Im too busy scratching the small rock against the brick to make it's white mark on the wall. Biting on my lower lip I put in my energy to scratching this mark.

"Y/n?"

I froze action and whipped my head around to see Hanuel starinng back at me. His own untouched tray sitting in front of him by the right side of the room. The wall he's decided to plaster himself against to ignore me these past few days. Since the day he was thrown back in here after receiving a beating he hasn't uttered a word towards me.

I did try to talk to him but he was close his eyes and pretend to go to sleep so I gave up on day five. That was three days ago now and finally he's speaking to me.

I don't speak to him though and I glare at him from across the room. I even ignore the worried look in his eyes when he stares back at me.

"What are you doing?" Hanuel

Rolling my eyes at him I turned my back to him and continued to scratch at the wall. I must get this eighth tally on the wall. It's pretty much the high llight of my time in here. Other than sleeping if I can and the small rations of food that comes. I feel like I'm going a little crazy honestly.

The lack of food, sleep and conversation is just killing me slowly at this rate. It makes me wonder what I'll be like in another eight days if I still cant get out of here.

"Y/N!" Hanuel

I ignored him and kept scratching at the wall. The eighth tally is there very clearly but I just purposely wanted to ignore him. That will be his punishment for ignoring me when I tried to talk to him. Let's see how he feels about it.

A presence came up behind me and I flinched when a large pair of hands moved over mine and took the rock from my fingers to throw it to the ground.

I gasped turning around in the hold and pushed at his chest. Or more like attempted to push away. Instead his arms swarmed me into him and pressed me to his chest. I thumped my fists at him, trying to get away but I was too weak compared to him.

I don't know how someone with so little food and water can still be so strong.

In the end I gave up, dropping my fists and my forehead to the bare skin of his chest and cried. Finally after these last eight days, the desperate need to cry just came out of nowhere and unleashed everything I had been keeping in.

I'm tired, hungry and I just want to leave.

And yet this man holds me in his arms as if he doesn't want to let go and allows me to sob into his embrace. Even rubbing soothing circles into my back and placing his cheek to the top of my head.

"I-I want to go home. I-I-I"

Not being able to finish my sentence I balled some more into his chest. I don't think I have to express how I'm feeling with words to him. He must feel the same way I do but is handling it far more better than I am

Eventually after so long my tears dried up and my sobbing stopped. At least for now. I might start up again at some point. But I didn't remove myself from Hanuel. He felt warm despite this place being cold and I felt safe in his arms despite not really knowing this man. But really if he meant me harm too I'm sure he would of attacked me or something by now.

It has been eight days.

"Why have you been ignoring me?"

My voice weak and only in whisper.

I felt him stiffen his arms aroudn me but he released a small sigh before finally whispering back.

"Im sorry. My minds been all over the place." Hanuel

"Why?"

Again he sighs but this time more forced.

"Something that Lex told me when he had his hench men beat me. It's nothing. I'm trying to figure something out to get us out of here." Hanuel

I moved my head back to look up at his face for the first time. The once swollen eye has gone down a lot but there is still a yellowish colouring around the eye that matches the other bruises.

"What did he tell you?"

There was this saddened look on his face and he could only look me in the eyes for several seconds before finally looking away. He also removed his arms from me and stepped back before tugging on his hair.

"That I'm not to get close to you or he'll.....he'll kill you." Hanuel

I gaped at him in shock. Even so much so I stumbled back into the wall.

"What? If he didn't want us to get close then why put us in the came cell?"

"He said he only had the one cell so he warned me to stay away from you otherwise consequences will be made." Hanuel

Another long yet very heavy sigh left him and he turned his back to me and lowered his head.

"I'm sorry....." Hanuel

He turns aroudn again, locking eyes with me just to take a step closer but stops as if to keep the distance.

"I should of told you and I'm sorry. We've only known each other for such a short time at that point. I just felt the need to make sure you stay alive. I will get us out of here Y/n. You just have to trust me." Hanuel

My eyes squinted at him slightly. I'm not really big on trust. Trust is earned and even though he did earn it when he defended me against Lex dragging by the ankles he lost a part of my trust when he's decided to ignore me for the last eight days.

"You know trust is earned right? And I don't trust you."

I expected an offense to come from him but instead he nods as if he knew that's what I would tell him.

"Then I have to earn it right?" Hanuel

I nod at him and push myself off the wall.

"Yes but we can get to know each other more. Lex wont have to know and by the looks of things there is no camera in here to tell him otherwise."

Hanuels eyes looked up and scanned the ceiling aroudn the cell as well and look down. Once he was done checking he nods and almost smiles when his lips curve slightly.

"It appears there's none." Hanuel

"Then lets at least talk and we'll see if I can trust you."

He nods and finally grows a smile. A geninue smile that struck me when I almost forgot just how handsome this man is. His smile is unique I'll give him that.
