As I hear Josh call my name, I instantly freeze.
The crowd is quiet, and all eyes are turned on me. I slowly get up out of my seat and make my way to the rink doors. Callie gives me a look of confusion, and I just shrug as I walk by.
I only know some of the Ducks, so I assume that this is a plan of Adam's.
Once I get to the rink doors, I see all of the Ducks besides Adam are standing together, watching with smiles on their faces. I feel like I'm the only one who has absolutely no idea what's going on.
My eyes then find Adam, who's grabbing a microphone from Josh. He skates over to his bench, and grabs some kind of sign.
No way.
Things slowly start to sink in as he skates over to me, sign at his side in one hand and the microphone in the other.
"You're really not about to do this right now." I call out to Adam as he skates over, because I know how much he hates public speaking.
He laughs for a second before holding the microphone up to his mouth, taking a deep breath in before he speaks.
"Hey El."
"Hi A, what's this?" I tease, causing his face to go red.
"Okay. I've wanted to ask you to homecoming for a while, but I haven't figured out how to do it. So, I recruited the Ducks to help me out. We had a deal. If we won today, I would ask you to homecoming right after the game. And so now I'm going to ask, will you go to homecoming with me?"
I watch in shock as he turns the sign around, and I don't think I've ever smiled so wide. I read the sign before looking back up at Adam, who looks like he's about to throw up. I nod my head quickly before running into his arms for a hug.
The crowd erupts in cheers and the Ducks all skate over to congratulate Adam.
"HE FINALLY GREW A PAIR!" Charlie yells, shaking his friend on the shoulders as Fulton and Dean pat his back.
Connie and Julie come right over to me, squealing with excitement.
"I hope you know, he was so nervous." Connie laughs, causing me to laugh too.
"I wouldn't doubt it. He isn't normally the type of person to do these things." I reply, still laughing.
"Yeah, he made us make the sign and everything." Julie adds. "He literally had no clue what he was doing."
This caused the three of us to laugh more until Sadie and Morgan came running up to me, dragging me off the ice and into a group hug.
"What did I tell you Morgan?!" Sadie yells out of pure joy.
"You told me that Adam was going to ask her, but I didn't expect this." Morgan chuckles, just as shocked as I am that he did it in such a public setting.
"If only I had such a perfect boyfriend." Sadie says with a sigh.
"Not my boyfriend." I reply, disappointment probably very evident my voice.
