It's the first time I'm watching a football game properly, and I have to say I'm impressed by the speed and strength that players show. They are running from one side of the field to another, chasing the ball as if it's the most important thing in the world. And I have to admit that Hero looks sexy while doing so.
His face is formed into a permanent frown that screams concentration and competitiveness as he follows the ball and shouts at his teammates to cheer them on or guide them. He's fast, maybe even one of the fastest, and because he's got his height, he easily overrules his opponent, especially when it comes to high balls.
There still haven't been any goals, but there have been a few changes. I can tell the rivalry between the teams is heavy; they play hard, various slidings and pushes are made to get the ball, and the referee had to step in numerous times already. There is tension, and since Chanti and the others haven't commented on it once, I think it's been going on longer than just this game.
The game is about thirty minutes far, and I haven't talked with the girls a lot. They've been talking to each other, but so far I haven't been able to participate even though Chanti tried to include me more than once. And truthfully, I don't mind. The way Mercy greeted me has thrown me off, and I lowkey regret coming here. For me, it's just sitting out the game and hopefully, the guys go home right after so I don't have to look for a ride.
Another thing that's been bugging me is what Chanti said just before the game started. Apparently, something has happened at the party yesterday, and I have a feeling it has to do with me since Chanti reacted very strangely. I plan on asking her when the team has a break, although I'm scared of the answer. Because why would Chanti ask me if Hero told me about it if it's got nothing to do with me?
"Yes, Hero! Get it!" Mercy shouts, and I immediately search for the tall, brown-haired guy that drives me insane. I spot him near the line on the other side of the field, and he's clearly battling for the ball with a guy from the opposite team. They're pulling at each other shirts, and by the looks of it, Hero still has the ball in his possession. It's something the other guy isn't happy with because the pulling and pushing get more aggressive every second.
So aggressive in fact, that the ball slowly becomes less important than it should be in a game of football, and before I know what's happening, it's as if I'm watching a boxing game. It's Hero that starts; he drops his fists in the middle of the other guy's face. They are a good distance away from us, but I can still see that he has a bloody nose as a result of Hero's punch. And obviously, the guy isn't having it. On his turn, his fists hit Hero's eyebrow, and that's when the shit really hits the fan.
"Oh, Jesus,'' Chanti says as Hero flies him around his neck. Various players from both teams immediately sprint to the pair of them, trying to yank them away from each other while the referee blows his whistle nonstop.
As if that's gonna help.
Whenever one succeeds to pull either Hero or the other guy away, the anger is too big and they escape the grasps to go at each other again. Eventually, it's the other team that manages to get their team player away from Hero properly, pushing them against the fence with three men so he won't go back again.
Hero too gets directed to the other side of the field, near us, and the referee decides that both of them deserve a red card, which pisses Hero off even more.
"Bloody cunt," he growls to nobody in particular. "Who the fuck does he think he is?!" The middle finger that he raises makes it clear that it's for either the player of whom he just broke his nose or the referee. Either way, it's Morgz -who has dropped his camera and has rushed towards him- that tells him to get off the field. He also presses a towel against Hero's eyebrow since it's bleeding pretty badly.
