Byron and Kansas walked next to each other not saying a word. No one had since they departed from the spot they ate lunch. Kansas wanted to make conversation but couldn't think of anything to say. The trees seemed to be getting thicker and the woods were getting darker and she wanted to stay focused just in case anything happened.

"Stay close to the cart." Jonah said to Byron and Kansas as if he had read her mind. Kansas felt her pace increase as she watched birds fly above her head,

"Where are we?" Kansas asked.

"The north of the woods which is the thickest and worst. The Sirens don't come up here but creatures like Ogres and Morgles love it up here. There is a lot to prey on."

Like us, Kansas thought as she became oblivious of the shadow following them in the trees behind them.

"Many of the creatures of the Siren forest are gentle creatures but others, like Humans, are violent things. " Jonah spoke as if he was angry with the creatures.

"What do you have against them?" Byron asked, as if he was reading Kansas's mind.

"Nothing." Jonah shrugged but Kansas didn't believe him.

"Are you sure it's nothing?" Kansas quiered but Jonah shook her off saying,

"Yes I'm sure." This made Kansas very suspicious about Jonah. She thought about breaking his consciousness but felt it would be rude if she didn't ask and he might get mad at her. She decided to wait until they stopped again and then try to break his mind open hopefully to find out what he was hiding.

*...*

Kansas crept out of her sleeping mat and over to Jonah's. She made sure to be extra careful not to wake anyone up. Byron, who was supposed to be on watch, was fast asleep on the grass dreaming of something to do with bread. Kansas could hear him sleep talking about the puff pastries and the cream puddings for the king. She walked over to Jonah who was peacefully asleep and took a deep breath. She thought about what she was doing,

This could break our trust. We might not be friends after this. What if he hates me?

Kansas thought about going back to her sleeping mat but she had a gut feeling that she needed to do this. She snuck closer to Jonah, placed her fingers on his temples and closed her eyes.

She snuck closer to Jonah, placed her fingers on his temples and closed her eyes. When Kansas opened her eyes she saw what looked to be a young boy with ruffled brown hair and a bright smile. She immediately recognized him as Jonah. She smiled at the young boy who was dressed in a pink suit with a polka dot bow tie. A short man wearing a black suit almost identical to Jonahs and a black bowler hat walked into the room. The young Jonah straightened his back and tried his hardest to look professional. The man smiled and brushed off the dust on the shoulders of Jonah's suit.

"You look amazing." The man said as the young Jonah beamed.

"You look fine yourself, Xander." The man-Xander- chuckled at Jonah's comment and said,

"Don't forget what I told you, when you see Avyanna you must stand tall and bow when she walks to you." Jonah nodded and smiled brightly into the mirror that was a few feet taller than him.

"You're growing up so fast." Xander said, wiping a tear from his eye as his pupils changed color from the sky blue, the color they were before, to a dark pink. Jonah hugged Xander tightly and said,

"Don't cry. I can stay if you want." Xander chuckled and blew his nose in a napkin.

"I want you to grow big and tall and soon enough you'll be taller than me!" Xander said, grabbing young Jonah and swaying him around the room. Just like in Gloria's mind, Jonah's echoes filled the room. Kansas watched as they moved around the room giggling to herself. She looked at the open doorway where Xander came to see Jonah older and in the outfit he was wearing when she broke into his mind leaning on the doorway, smiling at Xander and younger Jonah as the two ran through the doorway and through Jonah. Kansas stopped smiling and said,
