"lust" stems from the evolutionary need to reproduce.
estrogen and testosterone (the sex hormones) fuel lust, which is separate from the chemicals that influence attraction and attachment.
this is why some people are able to have one-night stands and hookups.
however, it does get complicated sometimes because lust is a component of long-term love too.
