The Error

Chapter 2

I sat on the recces bench in disbelief. "what do you mean there after us?!" I asked a little louder than I meant to. he held his finger up to his lip motioning for me to shut up 

"Lia this is my fault I lead them here but that means we have little time they have unparalleled abilities and they will find us" he warned but one this kept bothering me 

"who is they?" I said he looked around expecting some sort of spy to jump out of the bushes and grab us but maybe that was a real scar that could in fact happen. 

"to be honest I have no idea they are masked people they have chased me for about a year never relenting I haven't been able to make it 2 weeks in one place" Zeke said it felt like a stone had dropped in my stomach I clenched my fists.feeling anger wash through me 

"so you lead them here?" I asked getting angry 

"I swear I had no clue you were here Lia I-I just get these senses and I saw you and the directions Lea I swear I had no clue" he pleaded I heard sincerity in his voice 

"how can I even trust you?" I asked "you just waltzed into my life a few hours ago claiming to be able to see the future and now your saying that they who ever that is is after us and we have a maximum of 2 weeks to figure out how on earth to do this I we don't event know why we can do these thing and already you are plotting how to leave I think were jumping the gun a little bit here" I say panicking a little.

"I know this is a lot to digest but it is true and we have no more time if they find me the find you too we need to accept the fate that we are now in this together now Lia" He said in a calm soothing voice. 

"then what is this?" I asked touching his hand sending a shock through us both. he looked taken back obviously feeling the wave.

"you ask me as if I have an Idea" He responded. I buried my head in my hands trying to digest everything that is going on. 

"Look Lia I know it is a lot to digest this is difficult for me as well but this has been my life for the past year I know exactly what I'm doing and I thought I was alone but now we have each other now we have to stick together" he said 

"what about my parents I-I've lived with them my whole life" I said. Zeke looked uncomfortable his eyes trained on the ground. "Zeke what about my parents?"

"Lia" he began slowly 

"Just spit it out" I urged 

"Lia my parents are dead they killed them when they came for me" he said. He looked deep into my eyes and I realized what he was saying.

"no!" I said feeling tears well up in my eyes "no you are lying! they can't die!" I said "They won't die!" 

"I'm not saying they will I'm sharing my experiences" he explained 

"how long have you been here?" I asked in relsation. He twiddled his thumps and looked at the ground "Zeke how long have you been here?" I repeated 

"About a week." he answered my eyes wided 

"why on earth did you come here if you have a weak tops?" I asked 

"I saw you and I got this feeling that I needed to find you" he said 

"so you are gonna drag me down with you" I said 

"No I say you after I already got here they would have found you either way I figured it would be better if we stayed together." he said then the whistle blew telling us it was time to go back to classes. 

I grabbed a pen out of my pocket and grabbed Zeke's arm ignoring the shock I scribbled down my phone number "I don't have a phone" he said I sighed and scribbled down my home address on his arm.

"come after school just right went you get home go to this address" I command he nodded ans smiled 

"see you then" he said we 

rushed inside and I went to my next 2 periods watching the clock carefully till finally the bell rang I got up and swung my back over my shoulder and pushed my chair in. I hopped on my bus and went quickly to my seat. then took a deep breath what on earth is going on! I rested my head on the window as the bus started moving. I think it is just my imagination but I swear I saw abnormal looking people on every street corner talking to themselves. finally it was my stop I got off quickly looking behind me as I ran into my house. 

"Hey lia!" my mom greeted as I walked in I smiled 

"hey mom are you ok if one of my friends come over today" I asked she looked over to my father as if she was questoning that I event had frineds.

"yeah Lia of course you!" Mom responded I smiled 

"thanks!" I said 

"so what is 'friends' name?"my father questioned

"Zeke" I responded 

"ohh so it's a boy?!" my mom said. I rolled my eyes 

"yes mom it's a boy he is new to the school and were just friends" I responded. mom raised one of her eyebrows and I chuckled. I took my homework out to the porch scribbling down my answered for math. I got through all of my homework before Zeke showed up 

"took you long enough" I said smiling.

"sorry it took me a minute to find my way" he responded. we walked inside together and I introduced Zeke to my parents. After the introductions Zeke looked at me as if telling me his idea and oddly enough I understood it.

"mom dad can we sit down please?" I asked My parents shared a bizarre expression but agreed. we sat down around the kitchen table and I started the conversation "Do you know?" I asked my mother turned Pale

"know what?" she asked I raised one of my eyebrows. she then looked over to Zeke "078?" she asked Zeke tilted his head but then looked as if a lightbulb went off. he nodded 

"Mom?" I asked she shook her head.

"Lia I'm not your real mom" she said 

"am I adopted?!" I asked 

"yes and no" she said. I was about to asked more questions but Zeke's head shot up and his fists clenched

"there here" he said mom somehow went paler 

"Out the garage now" dad said Mom and dad hugged me 

"we will always love you sweetie" mom said 

"stay safe" dad said 

"you're not coming with us?" I asked. Mom gave me a faint smile. I felt a tear roll down my cheek then I left with Zeke at my side. there were woods behind our house. in the garage I grabbed my bow I am not great but if push comes to shove it would work. I noticed Zeke still had his bag on I grabbed a few bottled of water and we left my home running into the woods not fearing what lived out there. So we ran I cried knowing I would never see my parents again.
