I ordered myself a cube, and when it arrived, I got straight to learning. As it turns out, Feliks Zemdegs has a YouTube channel with all sorts of tutorials and tips for solving Rubik’s cubes. “Perfect,” I thought excitedly, “I can learn from the best!”
I used to believe that only geniuses could solve Rubik’s cubes, for when I attempted to do so years beforehand, it was so difficult that I couldn’t manage to solve a single face.
However, while following the video tutorial for beginners by Feliks, I was able to solve the whole puzzle! I spent a good minute staring in awe at the cube with all six of its colours on their respective sides.
It wasn’t nearly as difficult as I imagined it would be, but I was proud of myself nonetheless. “That was impressive, but that’s nothing compared to Feliks’ 3.47-second world-record solve,” I thought.
It had taken me roughly 17 minutes to solve it with a tutorial to guide me, so the next step was to be able to do it entirely by myself, then, to become faster.
