A date is an occasion where a couple dedicates time to spend together, usually alone, to reconnect and bond. A date usually consists of the main activity, such as a dinner and/or a movie, or a few activities planned one after the other.

But how does one actually plan for a date?

Because Hope Mikaelson desperately needs to know.

She and Josie have been together for over a week now and yet they have not gone on a single date.

The two simply never found the time to. And neither of them has asked the other.

They spend time together constantly, of course, alone or with their teasing friends, but that did not count as a date, not for Hope.

Albeit Hope has never been on a date for her whole eighteen years of existence so she doesn't have any personal experience she can take points from but she has a clear idea of how it's supposed to go.

Her aunt Rebekah taught her the proper ways of courtship as soon as she was old enough to start dating, and this was not it.

Hope has a notebook open with a list of date ideas she could do. But every single one of her ideas is either not possible, lacks props, daily routine, or cliché.

She wanted to have a movie date with her girlfriend as they cuddled and critique the plot, but they were not allowed to have phones or laptops in school.

She wanted to take Josie out to the garden and help her with her plants, while they talked and eat whatever it is the kitchen has to offer. But they already do that every day.

Her last idea was to just take Josie into town so they could have dinner at the grill or somewhere even fancier but that idea was so cliché.

And Hope Mikaelson doesn't do clichés.

She wanted to give Josie a very special first date, and doing something cliché makes it seem less special in Hope's eyes.

The girl's last hope was to ask her friends for help. One of them was bound to know how to plan a date.

She put off asking her friends for help in the first place because she knew they would just tease her the whole time. And frankly, Hope can't take any more of her friends' never-ending teasing.

The teasing was bearable before Hope and Josie got together, but now that they were, they would constantly tease the girl about her different behavior towards the brunette.

But alas, there were no other options. Hope was running out of ideas, and if she does have an idea she ends up hating it.

In the end, Hope decided to bite the bullet and ask for help.

She was writing down more date ideas in her notebook, heading down to Cleo's room —their hang-out spot— when she bumps into someone. She ends up dropping the notebook and pen she was using.

Hope apologizes and immediately bends down to pick up her pen and notebook. But the person in front of her beats her to it.

She kindly asks for them to return her notebook but the words die on her lips when she sees just know has possession of her belongings.

"Finch, give me my notebook back."

The wolf only ignores her as she reads the folded page. "Date ideas? Really? You're pathetic."

"Give it back." Hope growls. Her frustration already growing. Seeing Finch always makes Hope see red. She reaches for it but Finch hides it behind her back before she could grab hold of it.

Finch backs away a few steps a complacent smile on her lips. "If you want, I can give you some tips. I know what Josie likes and how she likes them." Hope balls her fist trying to stop herself from punching the wolf's smug face.
