"I don't know what the fuck has gotten into him!"
Frustration was coming off of her in waves as she nursed her Martini. Kesi hated to see it, River was usually so composed but as she swapped glances with Kam and Nadia it was clear all the ladies were concerned about her.
"Is it just the drinking Riv?"
It was the only question that Kesi believed would open up the dialogue her friend needed. Fortunately , with a simple nod River received it.
"Yeah I mean , I drink , you drink , we all drink but Quinn gets drunk and I'm afraid of how this will affect Ethan."
"He's been going through some things, but you know at the end of the day I really believe he'll pull it together for your family." Kam encouraged.
She knew all too well the struggles that one faced in a relationship under the spotlight. All the women did. However, River's TV fame coupled with Quinn's NBA fame made it worse. Nadia could relate to what she was feeling, the double focus tended to exacerbate the severity of the simplest conflicts and hiccups.
"Yeah Riv , don't lose hope okay? Kyle and I went through something similar when he was in his party and Instagram thot phase. Just thank God that Quinn is coming back home to you and not ending up in some other hoe's bed."
This brought all attention to the model who shrugged before sipping her drink.
"Kyle and I have gone through a lot. From initially being best friends while he dated Zoë to being his support after she flat out told him she didn't believe in his dreams because she wanted him to get real about his career. I supported him and we got together but that didn't mean he was ready to be committed again. I gave him an ultimatum and he chose right, now we're good. We're even talking marriage"
"But how long did that take? Quinn really has me scared for him. He just got his dream team and championship , he can't waste it."
"It takes time and you just need to be there for him, sometimes with tough love." Kam asserted before squeezing River's hand "Look, Josh was never a party person but he did have a childhood relationship that was falling apart when I met him. I never wanted to break up a couple but there was such a connection between us, I kind of did it without meaning to. I told him that I didn't want any part of him if he still felt like even the smallest piece of his heart still belonged to Shannon. It took a few months and I almost had moved to Florida when he showed up on my doorstep and literally told me I wasn't going anywhere without him."
"Moral of the story," Kesi spoke up as she began to conclude "When they realize what they have and you give them the space and support they need to make the decision , they always choose you over the bullshit in the end."
"Alright, I'll try to remember that. I just, I love him so much and I know him so I have no doubt that he can get back to that. I just want it sooner than later."
As she finished her drink , River sat back before pulling out her phone and sending a quick text. In the meantimes , Kesi messaged Brandon to make sure that everything was fine at home with the guys and Kaidence.
I told you I got this baby, Kai's chilling like her daddy. Holding her own bottle and everything.
She could imagine it now. Her five month old propped up next to her father while he played 2K with his friends. Kaidence hadn't given them much trouble, however Kesi would be lying if she denied that they had somewhat hit a rough patch since she returned to school.
Kam picked up the change in expression on her face.
"What , lover boy said he can't text you every two minutes anymore?" She teased harmlessly making Kesi roll her eyes.
