2023 (22):
A year after Justin went online for Esme and told the world that she was turning off social media and working on herself and it was honestly the best for her. She got to work on feelings and thoughts on Tessa's death she never even knew she had. She called her mom and dad and explained everything and they agreed with her. Esme had seen Tessa's grave and would talk to her for hours. Even Justin joined and it would feel like Tessa's there with them. They would share fun memories from when they were on break from filming. Esme was talking to Justin about starting small and working on a film or a TV show again when she got a call. She answered it and said,
"Hello?"
"Miss Downey? This is David Letterman, from the David Letterman show on Netflix. May I speak to you?" David asked. Esme looked at Justin and he nodded to her, saying that she can talk to him, not that she needed his permission.
"Yeah, of course." Justin also got a call and he kissed the top of Esme's head before walking out saying that it was Esme's fiancé, Justin. She then turned her attention back to David Letterman.
"I know you are on a mental health break from working and social media but I would love to sit down with you and interview you. It doesn't have to be right away but whenever you are ready for it." He said.
"I was actually thinking about slowly getting back to work and talking about it to my family. I can sit and be interviewed but it won't be for a while, if that's okay."
"Of course, Miss Downey. Maybe at the end of the year?" He asked. She checked her calendar and it would be 2024 when she would do the interview. She was already doing projects for Euphoria since Zendaya asked and she was debating on doing it since she had a hard time doing Cherry with Tom.
"Yeah, I can do January 2024. Thank you for calling and asking first."
"Of course, Miss Downey. I do hope you feel better soon.
"Thank you" She hung up and Justin came back in and she said, "I'm doing David's interview in January 2024. What was your call for?"
"LL Cool J called. He asked if you were willing to do a Battle Of The Champions Lip Sync Battle against Tom Holland. I told him I would talk to you before anything."
"It would be a great comeback for a few more marvel films."
"Is it official?" Justin asked, with a sad look. "Going up until Avengers 6?" Esme stood up and hugged him.
"I have to. I can't work for Marvel if all it does is remind me of Tessa. I'm not quitting acting, just Marvel." He gently removes Esme and says,
"I'll also leave Marvel after Avengers 6."
"What?! No, you can't do that to them!" Esme said, shocked he would even consider that an option.
"Esme, you have been a part of this since you were 6 years old. I just started at Age of Ultron. We both lost an important person in our lives. Tessa was a sister I never had and working with Marvel makes it hard to move on. Plus, I wouldn't be able to work with them anyway without you. So after Avengers 6, you and I are closing the Marvel chapter and starting a new one somewhere. Marvel will always be a part of us but it's not who we are." Justin explained. His heart was set on this decision. Marvel Studios was how they met and how Tessa got a job as a personal assistant and how she became the "Princess Diana" of Marvel. She was always making sure that Justin and Esme had time to dress up and meet kids from all over the world. She held her love's hand and their magnetic heart bracelets connected. Esme nods and says,
"We better get tell Kevin Feige sooner or later." She grabbed her laptop and had FaceTime up. She and Justin sat on their couch and she hit the call button and it began dialing for a few seconds until Kevin's face came up.
