Well everyone has their own opinion of what is "normal". In my opinion yes their relation was "normal". Besides that fact that one of them is dead and how they had to keep it a secret etc. When I analyze this relation I just simply look at the interactions between both of these characters. Going off my stereotypical highschool movie knowledge and the collective opinions of the average human being. Yeah, there is nothing wrong.
