MAIKO.

I was nearly about to tear my hair off my head. Tamaki must be near by now and I still had no idea what to wear! He gave no hints and insisted that anything I wore would be more than fine, and although that was sweet of him to say, it was not helpful at all in my predicament.

After destroying the majority of my closet, I settled with a baby blue dress that ran just until my mid-thighs. I wore matching clips to hold some of my hair away from my face, allowing for a bit of a cleaner look. I grabbed my black purse and shoved my wallet and phone inside, quickly double-checking that I had everything I needed.

With one last look at my reflection, I blew a breath of nervousness. However, I didn't waste a second as I eyed the time — I didn't want to keep Tamaki waiting any longer than I already had.

I practically burst through my room door and barely caught myself from tripping down the large carpeted staircase. My purse dropped and my belongings spilled out, and I let out a frustrated groan at the minor set-back. As I bent down to pick it up, however, I heard faint laughter in the living room. I hastily stuffed my phone and wallet back in my purse, ensuring that I closed the zipper fully this time, and began walking towards the voices curiously.

"Mom?" I called out as I neared. "Are there—"

My feet planted into the ground at the sight of Tamaki and my mother sitting together in the living room, with a cup of tea in each of their hands. "Oh, sweetie," My mom waved me over with a smile stretched across her face. "You didn't tell me that you and Tamaki-kun were friends again!"

"Yeah well, wait— again?"

Tamaki faced me with a smile as he turned the photo book — that I just now had realized he was holding — and pointed at the picture on the top-right corner. "Come look, Mai." I squinted at the photograph, recognizing it as sometime when I was in France with my mother.

I sat beside Tamaki on the couch as he passed me the singular photo. My fingers brushed the exterior softly as my eyebrows pulled together at the appearance of the children. "No way!" I snapped my gaze between my mom and Tamaki. "Is this.. us?"

My mom chuckled as she sipped her tea. "You should be around 6 in that photo, Maiko. I believe it was Tamaki-kun's 7th birthday," she hummed. "But you were friends for quite some time, I'm not sure if you remember."

"Not really," I admitted, glancing at Tamaki. His cheeks were pink as his eyes were focused on the picture in my hand. "But I remember this day and getting this picture taken. Most other stuff are all fuzzy though."

Tamaki's lips pulled upwards as he turned to me in excitement. "I remember this day too! You were the first to show up and the last one to leave."

I grinned at the memory. "I was, yeah."

"Well, I should head to my meetings. It was lovely to see you again, Tamaki-kun. You've grown into a charming young man, just as I thought you would." She sent him an appreciative look as she stood. "Take care of my daughter today, will you?"
