I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS MOMENT, imagined it, for years, but I never expected my questions to be answered by a nine-year-old boy. Watching Qui-Gon and the others leave left a dense impact in the pit of my stomach, but I felt like I was finally in the place I should be. Anakin seemed happy, yet confused as to why I had decided to stay. When Padmé left with the others, Anakin had stared longingly after her. It was definitely something that'd make the girl blush, too bad she hadn't noticed.

Watto did not like that I had stayed behind, but I refused to me and he gave up eventually. Only after Anakin had finished cleaning up like the Toydarian instructed. I had waited patiently and kept myself entertained by counting each time Watto cursed. (Which was a lot.)

And after I told Anakin I'd be staying a bit longer, he insisted on introducing me to his mother. Which I had no objections about; I'm sure she is a lovely person. Besides, there is a plan brewing and I was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

As we walked through the streets, I couldn't help but notice a scene occurring not even six feet away from where we are standing. A gangly Dug leapt to his feet in fury and sprang across the table on all fours, before he was on top of the Jar Jar in an instant, grabbing him by the throat.

"Chubba!" The Dug snarled through its corded snout. Feelers and mandibles writhed. "Ni chuba na??"

The Dug shoved the frog in the Gungan's face threateningly, but Jar Jar could not get any words out, gasping for breath, and fighting to break free. His eyes rolled wildly as if he were looking for help that wasn't there. Other creatures pushed forward to surround him, Rodians among them.

I give Anakin a soft look before walking over to help the defenceless Gungan. I watched the Dug throw Jar Jar to the ground and began shouting at him while hovering over him in a crouch. Desperately, the Gungan tried to scramble to safety.

"No, no," he moaned plaintively as he sought an avenue of escape. "Why me always da one?"

"Because you're afraid," Anakin answered calmly.
