It's been almost 2 weeks since me and imani started sneaking around
And It felt like she had me in some sort of invisible chokehold

Kaliah: "yeah so that's how that started" she said as she finished her story

I just blinked and stared at her  because I hadn't been listening to anything she was saying

"Have you heard from mani?"

Kaliah: "not in the last week. why?"

I hadn't heard from her either so I assumed she was ignoring me

"Is she okay?"

Kaliah: "define okay"

"Kaliah" I said plainly

Kaliah: "she's been busy with photo shoots plus her dad Is still on her case about taking basketball seriously so she's been super stressed about that."

"But other than that she's fine?"

Kaliah: "yeah she tends to shut down when she gets overwhelmed. She'll reach out once she feels like she has everything under control again" she shrugged

"And you're cool with that?"

Kaliah: "that's how she copes; there's nothing that I could do or say to make her feel better"

"Does she answer your calls?"

Kaliah: "why so many questions?"

"Just answer my question" I said plainly

Kaliah: "no Weirdo; she doesn't. She'll just send me one of those busy call back later text...you know the ones that are already programmed into our phones"

I just nodded and decided to drop the conversation

Kaliah: "ally just texted me, she wants to see a move. Wanna come?"

"Nah I got practice later"

Kaliah: "I thought the season was over"

"Big baller doesn't have an end to the season" I laughed

Kaliah: "I'll swing by later then" she said as she stood up and grabbed her things

I walked her to the door and gave her a hug before she left

I texted mani's phone for the 30th time basically begging her to answer my calls

I needed to know that she was okay

Either she had her read receipts off or she never bothered to look at my messages but either way I was annoyed

I changed my clothes and made my way over to my parents house

Gelo: "you ain't get my text?" He asked as he opened the door

I just shook my head

Gelo: "pops rescheduled the workout cause mike needed help talking imani into-"

"She's here?"

Gelo: "yeah she's in the-"

I didn't even hear the rest I just walked straight into the kitchen

My dad and mike were sitting at the table laughing and joking but mani wasn't there

Mike: "Lamelo! Just the guy I wanted to see" he smiled

Lavar: "hey son!" My dad said before turning his attention back to mike

They both continued to have conversation so I left before they could ask me anything
