When she was eight, her parents, who were human researchers, died due to a human disease they caught during a trip to the Forbidden Cities (Elvin immune systems aren't used to human diseases and no physicians wanted to help them, as their trip had been illegal). With her parents being social outcasts who didn't have any friends and their illegal activity, the council didn't know what to do with Elzi and just sent her to Exillium. Ruy still attended at the time and thought she might turn out to be powerful. He offered her a place to stay and she agreed, staying with the Neverseen and officially joining when she was 12. Elzi held a deep hatred for humans ever since and believes if her parents weren't so fascinated with them they would still be alive.
