Schizophrenia

I can feel his gaze on me.

I can't see him, but I know he's there.

He stares at me intensely,

Waiting.

I'm hearing footsteps

That are approaching

Faster and faster.

My heart is pounding,

My legs are starting to shake.

People pass me by

Asking if I'm OK,

But I can't see them, can't hear them,

I'm crouched on the sidewalk

Telling the voices in my head to shut up.

Too bad, they won't listen to me.

Feeling a blow on the shoulder,

I'm turning around,

Seeing my mother

And a huge crowd

Gathered around me,

Thinking that I'm crazy.

Ah, I forgot to take my tranquilizer again ...
