I make my way back to Adam and Will and the others. They can see my smile from a mile away. I can tell by the way Aubrey jumps off her seat and hugs me. "I knew you could do it."

"Its not like i cured cancer. Its just a date."

"Wait what?" Max says spitting his what i believe is coffee out.

"Yeah isn't that why Aubrey hugged me?"
"No i thought yous had just made up. But a date? How'd you do it? Amelia take notes." Aubrey says genuinely interested.

My face heats up and i start to sweat slightly.
"Leave him alone. He deserves a medal not an interview." Will says.

"Come on. It wasn't that hard to get a date." I protest. But they don't believe me.

"Come on we all know its because they're both the mortem..." and then, I black out.

...
I don't how long it was until i woke up.
I don't know where i am. If i do ive forgotten.
"Oh, you're awake. Can you tell me your name?" Someone asks.

"Jake. Where am I?"

"You're in the medical wards. At school, do you remember going unconscious?" The presumed nurse says.

"Not really. Well one of my friends were talking and then I'm here." I reply.

"Have you ever encountered a teleporter?" She asks.

"No what the fuck is one of those?"
The nurse tries to speak but instead she just stands there astonished. Like why am i meant to know what the fuck a 'telelporter' is. Im just about to yell when a soothing voice fills the air.

"Hey." They say.

"Hello Victoria. Please explain to the uhh Jake wheat a teleporter is." The nurse spits. I mean some respect people.

"Ok Ive got it from here. We'll be fine you can go." Vic says as she walks over to my bed sitting on the edge.

"Hi." I practically whisper.

"Hey, so you know when you blacked out," i nod in response "what did your dumb arse friends say?"

"They were taking the piss outta me for asking you out then Ash said something about the mortem pair i think."

"Ok. I see."

"You see what? That I'm pathetic?"

"Yes and, you blacked out because your friends are physically unable to tell you anything about the contents of the book, they made a binding promise and i know this sounds like some made up crap but its not. Im only able to tell you because i didn't take the oath. And like theres a lot more crap that you're unaware of."

"I guess I'm not the only one that rambles on." I say.

"So that book i gave you literally tells you everything you need to know about this so called school."

"Ok, I'm going to pretend i don't see this as a joke."

"Im being serious. I have proof aswell."
I try to test her, like theres proof everyone has some sorta magical gift. "Prove it then."

Just then Vic's eyes begin to change colour. I mean that can easily be staged. Right?
They go from green and violet to a deep red then a small fire appears in her hands, it seems to be controlled by her. Then her eyes change colour again to a green but this time flowers trail down her hair like a waterfall.

I mean this is some advanced tech.
And Vic 'makes' some dirt turn into a small tornado and then burst into flowers.

"Ok so I'm meant to believe you can somehow control the elements?"
Vic stops her little magic trick and looks me in the eyes. Her eyes now green and violet again, so full of truth and honesty "its not a joke, its the truth."

She cant be telling the truth. "So why am i here. If I'm so mundane?"

"You haven't unlocked your powers or even realised you might have them. And the quicker you find out the quicker the prophecy comes true."

This is some sick joke.
"If i at least pretend to believe this and i do get some weird ass powers. Then what?" I ask. This time you can hear the worry in my voice.

"I... i don't know."

The nurse comes back into the room with some tablets. Vic gets up and starts leaving "VIC!!" I yell.
She turns around to acknowledge she heard me. "We still ok for Saturday?"

"Sure but thats tomorrow, you slept for like a week." And with that she left.

"Shes right. So did she tell you about the teleporters?"

"No but I'm guessing they can teleport people."

"Yeah. Now take these then you can leave."

I look at the tablets given to me. Three in total. One red, green and blue. I take them and get up to leave. And the nurse hands me a letter signed at the front: 'to teachers of Jake Campbell'

"Your slip to say you were too ill to attend classes." She says. "Just sign these papers." She hands me a pile. Almost as big as the ones to ho to bed at 3 fucking am. I take like 5 minutes signing papers and proving I'm ok.

And FYI its a lot of walking. Im never faking a sick day again.

And i cant get out of that medical ward quick enough.
