Yeji's POV
"Hello Yeji, my name is Jennie Kim or Dr. Kim whatever you want to call me." The sweet woman blabbered while I attempted to get comfortable on the leather love seat in her office. "I know we already meant, but I want to get to know you better, okay?"
I glanced up at her to see a small smile on her face. "Okay."
She took a deep breath before flipping over the page on her clipboard. "So who did you live with before you meant Ryujin?"
"My grandmother." I briefly answer.
"Are your parents-" She didn't finish asking when I answered "I don't see them anymore." I peer down at my hands resting on my lap.
I don't like talking about my parents, mostly because I don't remember much about them.
"Do you mind telling me why not?" She tilted her head to the side like a puppy begging for a treat.
"Because my pack was attacked by Ryujin's when I was little, so to protect me my parents sent me off to live with my grandmother. I haven't seen them since." A shaky sigh slipped from my lips, but I wasn't going to let myself get upset. They don't deserve my tears.
"Okay let's talk about Ryujin." She smiles even wider, but she won't be for long.
I nodded, letting her know that she can continue to question me. My relationship with Ryujin is the most confusing aspect of my life so far.
I say I love her, even though I'm not sure what love really is. She hits me even though we are mates and I'm a woman. I run away even though I know I can't leave her. She tries her best to stay calm even though she can't control her anger.
"Okay, so how did you two meet?"
"I was just playing around in the forest with my grandmothers when Yeonjun found me. Apparently, I was crossing on their territory so he brought me to the cells. I had to stay the night in a dirty cell with a girl, but I don't know if she's alive anymore. Yeonjun got me the next morning to take me to Ryujin and then we found out." It's like I can see it all happening again. Me begging grandma to go out in the woods, fighting with Lucy if we should cross the stream or not, being dragged to the brick building.
"Well let's hope you'll laugh about it in the future." She chuckles and flips another page off her clipboard. "So has she ever made you upset, like upset to the point that you've wanted to leave?"
"I don't want to talk about that right now." Her smile slowly faded to a frown and she nodded her head.

"So how did it go?" Mina asks while pulling out of the small office building.
"Fine," I mumble and lean my head against the car window. "I'm just glad it's over."
The drive back to the house was silent. Mina must have picked up on my mood and new it was best to just give me a couple minutes.
Bring up my past wasn't easy. After talking about Ryujin we went back to my family. I had to explain most of my childhood to her so she could fully understand my situation.
Just talking about the attic and being by myself made all the emotions come back to me. Ryujin doesn't really know what I went through, just that my parents sent me to my grandmothers for safety.
Maybe I should tell her, maybe she won't care. Ryujin knowing wouldn't change anything anyways. I don't want her to pity me because my parents didn't understand me.
Healthy couples know about each others past right? I mean I don't know much about her anyways, maybe we could sit down and share with each other. I could learn more about her, my mate.
"Oh no," Mina mutters as we start to pull up to the house.
Confused, I glanced forward to see a nice car parked in the driveway. I haven't seen it before.
"Who is it?" I turn to Mina with furrowed eyebrows and a questioning expression.
"I'm not sure, but it might be Ryujin's parents." Immediately my heart stopped.
Hesitatingly I got out of Mina's car and walked with her to the front door. I could already hear a woman yelling from the inside.
"What the hell do you mean she goes to a therapist?! What's wrong with her?!" Quickly I turned to Mina instead of opening the door. "Let's go somewhere else," I beg with hopeful eyes.
"No fury, you're going to have to get this over with." She holds my shoulders and stares straight into my eyes. "You got this."
I huffed and slowly opened the front door revealing a middle-aged woman with her arms crossed and a glare painted on her face. Until she saw me.
"Oh my god is that her?" She swiftly turns to Ryujin and she nods. In a split second, I was pulled into a tight hug and squealing filled my ears. But thankfully she pulled away before my lungs gave out.
"I'm sorry I'm just so excited to finally meet you!" Ryujin's mom cheers and pulls me in for another brief hug.
"Well, that's my queue!" Mina evilly smiles at me and backs out the front door. "I'll see ya tomorrow fury."
I glared at her before she ditched me with Ryujin's mom and her bone crushing hugs.
"You know what, let's go out to lunch!" She suggests and let's go. "We can all catch-up and I can get to know your mate."
"Sure why not." Ryujin painfully smiles back at her mother.
"Okay you guys go ahead and get in the car, I just have to run to the restroom." Her mom calls to us as she already starts speed walking down a hallway.
As soon as she's out of sight I turned to Ryujin with a questioning look.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair before coming up to me. "She decided to surprise us."
It's not like I'm angry that her mother is here, it's just I wish I could have been more prepared. She seems very spirited and full of personality.
"Everything will be fine, just relax". Lucy assures me. "Just be yourself and I'm sure that she will love us, I mean we are her daughter's mate so she kinda has to."
"What if she hates me? What if she tells Sebastian to reject me and go find a better woman to be Luna?" I replied to Lucy
"Yeji, you're just being silly, everything is going to be fine! We are going out for lunch, not some battle royal street fight". She sasses me.
"You're right everything is going to be fine. It's not like some rouge attack is going to happen when we're gone, or the sky will fall and crush us. What if there is a surprise hurricane or tornado? Or a flood!"
"Yeji, what does any of that have to do with you meeting Ryujin's mom?"
"You're right I got off track a little."
"A little?" Okay, I'm going to go eat some food and impress her mom. She will love me if its the last thing I do!
