"What do you mean Alice and I are related? I met Alice the first year of middle school when I shared my lunch with her" exclaimed Ariel frantically. "Honey, calm down and I'll explain the best I can," said Daniel softly as both sat back down. "You and Alice were both born on April 21 2000 to my sister Isabella and her husband Harrison Thorn. Isabella loved you both so much, it pained her every time she had to leave you with your grandparents to go on missions but she tried very hard to always come back to you girls. One night your parents were ambushed by a foe they had been dealing with.

Luckily I got you both out of your cribs and out of the house before the intruders could grab you but on the way out I was shot in my left leg causing me to fall while I was running. I reached out to Aiden that was already around fighting off intruders along with your parents, I told him to take you, girls, to a safe place. And that's all I know" said Daniel as he finished his coffee

"That can't be it, there has to be more to the story," said Ariel. "I'm sure there is but you'll need to ask your parents to tell you the rest. By the way, how's Ellis'" asked Daniel suddenly. "Ellis as in Alice's childhood friend Ellis," asked Ariel even more confused. Daniel nodded "he's a part of this too" "How," asked Ariel. "He's your father's son and yours and Alice's half-brother" smirked Daniel.

"And with that, I'm outta here," said Ariel as she ran out leaving Daniel by himself. By the time Ariel arrived back home, it was already two in the afternoon. Ariel waved to Natalie as she headed toward the elevator. When Ariel entered the apartment Alice was already in her room just waiting for an update on her Brooklyn outing. "So how was it, did you meet your uncle, was he nice," asked Alice excitedly. Before answering Ariel thought to herself she knew she couldn't tell Alice what she learned today and that she had met Daniel cause if she did Alice would freak out and until she knew more, she didn't want to freak her best friend out. But when they were younger they did make a promise never to keep things from each other

But in this case, Ariel would have to make an exception to that rule. She hated the idea of lying to her sister but it had to be done. "Ariel did you hear me," asked Alice as she poked her sister in the arm. "Ouch, I hate when you poke me" complained Ariel as she rubbed her arm. "Maybe if you had answered l wouldn't have to poke you," said Alice sarcastically. Ariel rolled her eyes as she didn't feel so bad about keeping the truth from Alice. "To answer your questions, the answer is no, I did not meet Daniel he stood me up" frowned Ariel as she put her jacket away.

"Next time" smiled Alice as she hugged her sister before running to the kitchen to feed her grumbling stomach.
