Veronica walked around her study, pretending to listen to the lecture that she was receiving from Mark on the other end of her phone. Yes, the phone that she shattered to pieces a few days ago was now replaced with a newer version, and listening to Marks droning voice on the other end made Veronica want to smash this phone up against a wall as well. "You just need to work on it, okay? And also, can you try to keep yourself together for a few days after what happened that night?" Mark requested. "I'm pretty sure you scared Anika." He said.
Veronica let out a chuff. "I scared her way before that night." She replied. "Well, that's even worse. She's a good makeup artist, but I don't want her to be scared off because of your behavior." He said. "Everyone has seen far scarier behavior from me. Including you. If she leaves then she just isn't the right one for the job." Said Veronica.
Mark released a frustrated sigh. "Are you doing alright?" He asked. "Good enough." She replied. "Take a breather, please." He said. "From what exactly?" She replied. He didn't reply, only sighing again. "I'll be over in a few hours. Mac cosmetics is coming over today so that you can go over swatches for your upcoming pallet collaboration with them." He said. "Okay." She replied.
The phone was tossed down onto a sofa chair, and Veronica walked over to the double doors that lead to her balcony. She grasped the diamond knobs, twisting them and pushing them open. The rising sun burned her eyes, making her squint, and scrunch up her face. She walked to the railing, her arms dropping limply from the door handles. She then coursed them lightly onto the railing, staring over her massive field of green grass and nature.
Her eyes were low, but this time not from marijuana, but from tiredness. She closed her eyes, inhaling, then slowly exhaling and releasing a deep sigh. She turned around, her back against the railing now. She leaned down backwards so that the top of her back was on it. She straightened out her arm so that they laid flat on each side of it. She leaned her head back, her hair dangling down behind her head and over the railing.
Her eyes remained closed, and she inhaled and exhaled again. She then opened her eyes slowly and stared up at the sky.

Mark greeted the doormen once they welcomed him inside. "Where is your cranky boss?" He asked jokingly. "She is in her living room. She is laying on the couch. We made an attempt to ask how she was doing, but she refuses to answer us." Said one of the men. "What?" Mark asked. He turned around, heading towards the living room.
He didn't notice her at first, simply because she was laying in such a still manner on the couch that faced away from the doorway. He inched forward, staring down at her. She was laying on her side in a bathrobe, her eyes nonchalant and plain but staring straight ahead at nothing in particular.
She gripped the same glass of whiskey, now refilled, in her hand. She blinked slowly and licked her teeth once she realized that Mark had walked up next to her. He stared, releasing a sigh. "I thought I said to take it easy.- This is me taking it easy." She replied.
