They say that time is of the essence, but now, time is her biggest enemy as the hands of the clock ticks away, with seconds, minutes, and hours disappearing through the vast ether. Showing how powerful it can be, one can be early, late, or just on the dot.
Time wasn't exactly with Celestine tonight as she rushes herself to get to the club as quickly as she can. With her black duffle bag slung to her right arm, she held it close to her body as she ran towards the back entrance. It would be handy to bring her rusty truck but her clumsiness made her misplace the key.
Though panting hard and visibly tired, his warm hands caressing her shoulders somehow eased the exhaustion from today, no matter how her muscles ache. She paused in front of the backdoor to catch some air as the breeze blew crisp and cold as if she was breathing with him in the same room with the same air.
Feeling spirited, she proceeds inside with an enthusiastic smile plastered on her face. Her positive disposition put an optimistic light on her future that she can earn the remaining money that is left before the sun could rise. His caring energy was a great way to start the long and tiring night as she skips toward her dressing room.
In no more than three seconds of joy, she jumps in surprise as Ava came out of the corner unannounced. Both shrieked in shock as they faced each other with faces of horror, then turned into laughter.
"Jesus Ava, you scared the shit out of me," she puts her hand on her forehead, wiping the nervous sweat that came out of shock.
"I could say the same thing, C!" she chuckled as she catches her breathing.
"What are you even doing there in the dark?" Celestine asks as she readjusted the bag on her shoulder.
"Just catching my breath. I just finished my set, Bianca's on stage now," she answered and looked at the clock above the dressing room doorway. "You're late,"
"I know, I know—"
"You're never late," she cut off. That's when she realized that this might be the first time she has ever been late to serve.
Time really did slow down earlier, huh? She thought to herself.
"The bar was packed. They needed an extra hand," she replied quietly but a small smile crept in slowly on her face, trying her hardest to hide it. Ava raised a brow, putting two and two together.
"So there's a guy, huh?" she smirked at her while Celestine looked at her in sheer panic.
"What guy?" she nervously laughed as she tightens her grip on her bag strap. Ava already knew from her shy demeanor and glowing aura that there is someone, the only question is who.
"I thought we were friends, C. I can't believe you're keeping secrets now," she pretended to cry and pounded her chest jokingly in pain.
"Oh stop it, drama queen, I've got to get ready," Celestine walked past her with her cheeks getting flushed at the memory.
