The rest of your shift wasn't much fun.
A few 'hellos' and 'hi's' were shared with Steven as you passed each other in the shop.
Your mind couldn't get passed how weird he was acting. 'What happened to his accent?' and 'Why did he look at me like that?' were the two phrases that repeated in your brain as you finished your shift.
You finally began to shut down everything. You rushed people out and locked most of the shelves closed.
Steven was already walking out which made you groan in pain. 'This is not how I want my night to go'
You rushed to shut off the lights and somewhat skipped out of the shop.
When you looked towards the entrance you saw Steven, but with a woman. Her smile was bright as she talked with him.
"We still on for 7:00 tomorrow?"
"7:00 tomorrow?"
"Best steak in town?"
"Oh, yeah. Right, yeah"
"Yeah? Okay"
She begins to walk away with a laugh which made you furious. 'Who was this woman? and why is she getting near Steven? And now Steven's Accent is back?!'. You were about to head over there when you realized what you were doing.
Steven and you weren't together. Why did this mean so much to you?
Before you could argue with yourself, Steven caught up with the lady and said something that made you irritated.
"Sorry. But...are you asking me out?"
The woman giggled at him. You were so over this.
You grabbed your bag and coat and headed out the door. You then saw one of your coworkers. You still felt fumed, but you still had the sincerity of saying goodbye.
"Hey J.B. Goo-"
"Good night, J.B"
Steven's voice echoed in your ears. He cut you off, and he didn't seem to notice.
"Good night Scotty. See ya, Nicky"
You slightly rolled your eyes as you turned to face the man who had interrupted you unintentionally.
You saw that Steven was looking in your direction. He glanced at J.B. and then at you as he headed towards the doors.
"Scotty? It's Steven. With a V"
You chuckled a bit at his response. J.B. questioned what Steven had said but Steven blew it off with a
"See you tomorrow"
Your legs began to move towards the boy as he exited the building. You whispered,
"Not so fast"
You pushed through the doors to see Steven walking down the staircase to the museum. You opened your mouth but no noise came out.
'What am I supposed to say?'
You slowly began to step down onto the concrete steps but your mind hadn't made up what to say. 'Should I question him about earlier?'
You shook your head and tried to think of something else. Nothing. You couldn't think of anything.
You just headed to the same stop Steven was. Which was technically your stop. You both had just lived on the same street I guess.
You sat down on the bench waiting for the bus. You had ignored Steven's presence. Your mind couldn't get over the fact he had a date, that wasn't with you.
. . . . . . . . 𓆩❤︎𓆪 . . . . . . . .
Your night wasn't going as planned. You decided to lighten up your mood by walking around the neighborhood. You knew a nice place, so that's where you were going.
What you didn't expect was to find Steven. Sitting on a fountain in the middle of the area. Talking with a statue. Well, a man who was pretending to be one.
Your next action wasn't the best.
You decided to sit on the fountain but away from Steven so he wouldn't see you. You wanted to eavesdrop and see what he talked about.
His voice made you calm and it felt like the most heavenly lullaby you'd ever hear.
"So, the girl I was telling you about, the one from work"
'Is he talking about me?'
"We're going on a date tomorrow"
'Of course...'
A slight pause happened as you heard someone ask for a picture. You patiently waited for them to leave so you could hear what he had to say about this 'woman from work'. You scoffed at the thought of her.
She didn't even look like his type.
Suddenly, you heard Steven sigh from behind you. Butterflies appeared in your stomach knowing he was right there.
"Anyway, if I am gonna have a girlfriend, at some point, obviously can't have ankle restraints on my bed, can I?"
'E-Excuse me?'
"That's like the definition of a red flag, isn't it?"
You covered your mouth when you felt a smile grow on your face. Your breath hitched at the thought of what he does or uses his 'ankle restraint' for.
You shook away the thoughts and considered going back home.
Which you did. Your mind was racing as it went from each encounter with Steven that day.
You were now at the entry of your apartment. You unwillingly unlocked the door with your key and nudged it open.
You sighed as you set your bag down and shut the door.
"What a dreadful day"
You sighed as you plopped onto your bed. A feeling of sadness washed over you as you thought of Steven. Your eyes twitched as you tried to keep them open for a little while longer. You couldn't pull the strength to do so.
You then fell into a deep sleep.
