Evelyn kissed her mom on the cheek "i love you!" she said, waving at her mother as she jogged over to cormacs house she was going to surprise him with her visit home cormac was her bestfriend, and she hadn't spoke to him all day
she rang the doorbell, bouncing on her feet with excitement the door opened and Evelyn locked eyes with cormac he was wearing superman pajamas she smiled and then
"SUPRISE!!"
Evelyn walked into the room the lights dim, people everywhere in their pajamas she smiled, she knew who did that she hugged cormac, "i've missed you mac" she said, he laughed "EVELYN!!" she heard kizzys loud voice boom over the microphone they were standing on cormacs coffee table to see over the crowd "KIZZY!!" she smiled, waving to the friend on the table
the two friends hugged, saying their hellos and their 'i miss yous' "kizzy you should've told me to wear my pajamas!" Evelyn said, pointing to her outfit "no problem babes" kizzy said, handing a bag to her "welcome home Evelyn" they said, as Evelyn opened the bag, revealing captain america pajamas
Evelyn squealed, running upstairs to change in cormacs room. quickly, she changed into her new pajamas, rushing out the door
on her way out of cormacs room, she bumped into a someone "oh i am so sorry!" she said frantically, helping whoever she knocked over, up.
she smiled, but it soon faded when she locked eyes with kit, wearing winter soldier pajamas she cursed under her breath at kizzy for the pajama correlation. last summer they wore vision and wanda boy was kizzy good at this stuff
"i like your pajamas" kit smiled, "thanks" Evelyn said, turning to the stairs again "Wait Ev!" Evelyn stood still "welcome home" kit said, Evelyn nodded, walking down the stairs.
Evelyn couldn't remember why she was angry at kit, or why she wouldn't just speak to him they used to be so much more. She was terrified, she didn't know why, but perhaps she didn't want to rekindle a relationship and then leave again

Evelyn walked into her backyard, looking at the time. two in the morning her heart fluttered with hope she didn't know why she wondered back here, she didn't know a lot of things these days she just knew it was worth a shot
she layed on the grass, humming a tune,
"when i get back meet me in my yard at two am, laying on the grass"
Evelyn sang a song in her head, a song she was working on currently, had been for a year, but latley she'd given up on it she heard rustling by the gate, she shot up with hope in her eyes
she locked eyes with cormac, laying back down on the ground in defeat "I knew you still liked him" cormac said, sitting next to her "it's no use now, he forgot" cormac shook his head "nuh uh, he did not" cormac shook his head "remember the pajama party before you left?" flashbacks of that night flooded her mind "of course i do, the night before i left"
"Evelyn, will we see eachother again?" "when i come home for the summer" "i'll see you in your backyard" "see you in my back yard" "don't forget kit, i'll be waiting"
"it all feels so childish mac, but i do wish he remembered" cormac nodded "i'm sure he'll come around, now, let's get you to bed, we have a big day tomorrow"
