Bey's P.O.V.
"Let's go for a walk," I begged, standing up and pulling on Jay's arm like a kid dragging a parent on Christmas morning.
"Why?" he groaned, flopping his face back into the pillow. He'd gotten back yesterday morning, but ended up spending the rest of the day at the office, negotiating with Samsung. I didn't exactly remember the specifics, but he had told me that it had something to do with promo for the new album. Nevertheless, I was anxious to get out of the confinement of the condo, especially since that's exactly where I'd spent so much time sulking.
"Because it's getting warm," I nagged, still yanking at his arm, so hard that I'd finally moved him toward the edge of the bed an absolute inch. He groaned, his morning voice rough and scratchy, the sound seeming to vibrate through his body, and I felt the buzz in my hand. "Pleeeeaaase," I pried, squeezing my eyes shut. I knew he'd give in; It would only be a matter of time before the guilt of the last week combined with affection and a tablespoon of irritation to concoct his agreement to join me on my walk. Before I could plead again, he was pushing the covers back and sitting up, rubbing his hand over his face to wipe away the sleep from his eyes.
"30 minutes and that's it," he reasoned, getting up, placing a kiss on my cheek, and heading to his closet to grab some clothes. I, on the other hand, found myself dressed appropriately since Jay lived in a more suburban area of New York, though it was still the city. The streets weren't too crowded, and the sidewalks weren't either, though there was a superfluous amount of trees and bushes, giving the illusion of the regular suburban neighborhood.
In minutes, he joined me in the living room, adjusting his white tee that went with his nike track pants and sliders. Now that he was fully coherent and aware, he took a good look at me, and his eyes widened at the sight of me. I knew exactly why, too. I grinned, and he returned the gesture while he hurried over to me, pressing an ear to my belly.
"He got bigger, Bey," he marveled, hoping to hear something.
"Actually it's going to be a she," I argued, giggling.
"No, it's going to be a Shawn Jr."
"No, it's going to be a Chloe Noel."
"Bey, that's a white girl name."
"Or Paris Page."
"Still a white girl name."
"Well I like them," I defended with a laugh as we headed to the door.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We still haven't found out the gender." I tilted my head from side to side, considering his point.
"I suppose you're right." We had then found ourselves outside surrounded by the New York nature. My senses had become much more acute, and I was aware of everything around me; From the small humming of the bees to the faint smell of exhaust that would never particularly be gone and even to the whizzing of butterflies that I could only see from the corner of my eye.
Being pregnant had made me more in touch with not only myself, but the things and people around me. Life itself is a beautiful thing, especially when you take the time to think about it. Two people have shared love, and that love grows into life. A child comes from the love that Jay and I have shared. It is almost as if the mere affection has breathed life into the soul of this baby. And from that, this child will grow into a strong, beautiful or handsome man or woman, who can then share love with someone else to create more life. Life is love.
Jay intertwined his fingers with mine whilst we walked at a leisurely pace down the sidewalk that lined up parallel to our building. A comfortable hush fell over us. I think that things had hit him just as hard as they had hit me, and it wasn't particularly a bad thing, but it was an awakening. Maybe that was the reason behind my new keen senses. Continuing down the path, we came upon a tree. It was a beautiful blue tree that stood in stark contrast to the trees around, specifically because of the dazzling streak of azure bark that ran up the front.
