"Are we going to talk about Reid standing up for you?" I rolled my eyes at Sasha as we walked into the party. Grayson had invited us to their big game day party, and it didn't hurt that they won, which gave them even more reason to party hard.
"He never stood up for me; he just came over to get Jaden to leave." After I argued with Jaden outside, he rushed away. I believe he has finally realised that I no longer care about him. Reid only dragged me back inside to finish eating the food we had ordered. We never spoke or looked at one another again.
I couldn't stop myself from scanning the crowd for the person in question. Instead, we focused on Grayson, who was playing beer pong with Jamie. After saying hello to the pair, we formed a team in the hopes of destroying the opposition.
"You take my throw; I'll go grab Ingrid and Reid." Jamie placed the ball in my hand and patted my waist to keep it out of the way as he walked behind me.
"No pressure, Jo!" Grayson yelled above the loud cheers and chatter. I smirked at the boy before focussing on the cup. I'd always been a good beer-pong player. I tossed the ball into the air and watched it effortlessly land in the cup.
With my hands in the air, I whirled around. Jamie rushed over and wrapped his hands around my waist, spinning me around. He lowered me and kissed my forehead. I giggled as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
"I'm sorry about Jamie; he's had a bit too much to drink." Grayson groaned and drew Jamie away from my frame. I shrugged and accepted a drink from Cara. I had no idea she'd left to retrieve them.
Reid and Ingrid joined our group as Cara attempted to throw her ping pong ball into one of the three cups on the table. Ingrid approached me and pulled me close to her. I accepted her side hug and smiled at Reid, who didn't even bother to return the gesture.
"When did you girls get here?"
"Maybe like two minutes ago." She unlinked herself from me as I answered and welcomed the others. "How long have you been here?"
"Jamie was drinking in the changing rooms after the game for about an hour, so I apologise for anything he does." She examined her friend, who was standing next to Reid and Grayson, and he immediately gave her the middle finger in response.
"I'm guessing we've been here for about thirty minutes."
Cara had made her shot into the cup, and the other team attempted to make theirs. The attempt was unsuccessful. Grayson handed Sasha his ball, which she accepted and gracefully removed another cup, leaving one.
"I think Reid should take this next shot." While taunting Reid, Ingrid remarked.
I could sense a hint of flirtation in her words, but I'm guessing he didn't notice. He shrugged his shoulders and gave his red cup to Grayson, who investigated it and drank whatever was left.
Reid approached the nearby table. His gaze briefly fell on my short dress before returning to the table. I could feel the heat transferring from his body to mine; I'm sure he could feel it as well, as his feet shifted uncomfortably.
"You can do it Ever!" He tensed up and turned to look at Ingrid. His face flashed an angry expression before softening. She looked stunned and quickly mouthed 'sorry' in his direction.
"What was that about?" I heard Cara whisper behind me.
Within seconds, Reid took his shot, and it entered the cup with ease. There were no more awkward moments as everyone cheered and gathered into a group hug. Reid's hands curled themselves around my waist, causing goosebumps to rise on my skin.
My eyes went over to Sasha, who raised her eyesbrows at the pair of us holding each other in our group. We all separated from the group, but Reid's hand stayed on my figure.
