"Oh Kankuro~"

"S-Stay away from me!"

Tatsuya watched wearily as the tall oni ran after the terrified Jonin. Quite a sight to behold, really.

Y/n caught up to him rather easily, not being human and all, and tackled the poor young man to the ground, happily greeting him while he shrieked like a little girl.

"Let him up, y/n, you're not little anymore. I'm pretty sure you've crushed his arm or something." Tatsuya finally spoke up, hooking his arms under y/n's and dragging her off her friend.

"You callin' me fat or somethin'?"

"You've gained muscle, y/n."

"Well you two sure seem to be doing well." Kankuro hummed as he picked himself back up and dusted himself off, "We were expecting to see you a couple months ago for your birthday."

"Yeah... I ended up almost dying instead." y/n admitted, "But now I'm here! How are Gaara and Temari?"

"Temari's over in Konoha right now. I thought you would've seen her." Kankuro replied with a curious tilt of his head.

"Nah, we came straight here from the Land of Rivers. We were supposed to head back to Konoha, yes, but I wanted to visit my favorite kitty cat and one of my besties!" y/n exclaimed.

"Don't call me that..."

"Then get a new hood."

"No way!" Kankuro said sharply before giving her a wary look, "You've gotten taller again. Do you oni ever stop growing?"

"If it weren't for the human in me, I'd be way taller than this by now." y/n reminded him, "ANYWAYS, where's Gaara? I wanted to show him how well our son is doing!"

Kankuro's eyes lit up, "Oh, that's right! How's my nephew doing? Have you been taking care of him?"

"Very much so!" y/n exclaimed before digging in her coat and presenting the little round cactus to Kankuro, "Isn't he just the cutest? Look at the little spikes!"

Little sparkles emitted from the cactus.
Such a cute little thing.

Tatsuya watched wearily as the two idiots sharing a braincell cooed over the little cactus, "Good grief..."

The only reason Tatsuya put himself through this 🐂💩 was because y/n was happiest while in Sunagakure. The locals were very friendly towards her, which initially came as a bit of a surprise to her.

"It's good for her mental health." Tatsuya would remind himself. The positive attention and the constant affection from the Sunakagure locals picked y/n right back up after the horrors she usually witnessed when helping Tatsuya with his bounties.

"Bye-bye Tatsuya!!! I'm gonna go hang out with Gaara!" y/n shouted before taking off in the direction which she remembered his office was in, carrying the little potted cactus over her head which was emitting sparkles.

Kankuro and Tatsuya watched her go for a moment before letting out simultaneous sighs of exasperation.

"We were in the Land of Tea not long ago." Tatsuya announced absentmindedly, "I got a recipe for a drink. It's strong as hell but it helps me forget the pain of existing near y/n."
