ON THE TWELFTH DAY, HE CRIED FOR THE FIRST TIME. It was cathartic and brutal. He had never cried as hard as he did in her arms. The universe had cried with him that day, rain staining the soil and trees. It was a feeling of relief for him, a feeling of being able to finally let go, to fully accept and fully move on. The tears held memories and emotions he had long suppressed inside of him. The tears marked an end to that, for when they left his body, they left him.

In his tears, there was proof that there existed something good inside of him. The tears touched his soul each day. To feel them meant feeling his soul.

He clung onto her for dear life, shoulders shaking, breath ragged. Her hand ran through his hair, her steady heartbeat turning into a calming melody. His heart beat in sync with hers. Together they formed a steady rhythm. Her chest slowly lowered as she breathed out. Slow and steady, he copied her to control his own breathing. While he despised not having any control, it was different with her. For Sunghoon knew she would never take his control.

He could give it all up and she'd hand it right back.
