chapter 2

As I walk with Clarke and all the others trailing behind there was complete silence no voices talking just the rustling of the trees I almost felt at peace. Until the boys started talking I turn around and see Finn put a flower in Octavia's hair. "Now that my friend is game," Jasper says to Monty "and that my friend is poison sumac," Octavia looks worried as Monty says that and franticly bats it out of her hair. "Don't worry the flowers aren't poisonous they're medicinal calming actually," as he eats the petals of the sumac I hear Clarke pull us back to reality with her seriousness "Would you try and keep up."

"come on Clarke how can you block all this out," Finn asked 

"Well it's simple," she stated

"here we go," my comment earnt a few chuckles and a glare from Clarke.

"I wonder why haven't we seen any animals maybe it is because there are none. maybe we have been exposed to enough radiation to kill us. Sure is pretty though." Clarke continues to walk and I follow hearing the others continue to talk all I can think about is what my parents may be doing  then "Alix?" Finn says grabbing me by the arm

"What?" I question

"How did you a counsellor's daughter get locked up?"

"oh you know stealing and assault threw into solitary for killing a guard or two ... oh and then there was a doctor, ahh that's another story though."

"Okaayyy... Octavia what about you?" Jasper asked

"being born" she replied quite bleakly might I add

"And that my friend is not game," Monty said with a chuckle

I look up and see Clarke and Finn watching a deer "No animals huh," Finn said stepping forward, and as he did he snapped a twig causing the deer to rear its morphed face towards us.

As we kept walking I hear Finn start asking questions "Hey, you know what I'd like to know? Why send us down today after ninety-seven years? What changed?"

"Who cares? I'm just glad they did. I woke up rotting in a cell, and now I'm spinning in a forest." Octavia said as she started to spin, but Finn took no notice of her. 

"Maybe they found something on a satellite, you know, like an old weather satellite or..." Monty started

"It wasn't a satellite. The Ark is dying. At the current population level, there are roughly three months left of life support, maybe four now that we're gone." Clarke interrupted.

Finn replied, "So that was the secret they locked you up to keep, why they kept you in solitary, floated your old man?"

"My father was the engineer who discovered the flaw. He thought the people had a right to know. The Council disagreed. My mother disagreed. They were afraid it would cause panic. We were gonna go public, anyway, when Wells..."

"What, turned in your dad?" Monty answered 

"Anyway, the guard showed up before we could. That's why today. That's why it was worth the risk. Even if we all die, at least they bought themselves more time." Clarke said she always saw the positive. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't get put in the sky box what would have happened would I live with my parents and lived a happy life or have been miserable? I look up to see Jasper and Finn laughing and shouting. "Octavia what are you doing," Clarke asked then she jumped "Octavia," she screamed 

"We can't swim," Monty said 

"No but we can stand," Octavia retorted 

"Octavia get out of the water we don't know what's in there you could get hurt" I yelled 

"Wait. There's not supposed to be a river here." Clarke started 

"Well, there is. So take off your damn clothes." Finn replied

"Oh... Octavia, get out of the water. " Jasper screamed

"Get out of the water now!" Clarke yelled 

Octavia started to scream "Why does no one listen to me," I said rolling my eyes

"What the hell is that?" Monty asked

"We have to help her," Finn told the others looking around for an option

"What are you gonna do? " Clarke retorted 

"Try not to get eaten," Finn replied 

"No. Wait. If we distract it, it might let her go. Help me." Clarke said forming an idea 

Octavia continued to scream as we started pushing rocks into the water to distract the serpent thing

"It worked. It let her go." Monty said with relief

"Octavia, get to the shore, now!" Jasper worried

after all that everyone was worn out for the day and we decide to go rest.

"You wanted to go first. Now quit stalling." Clarke retorted

"Look if you don't go I will pretty boy," I said "Anything to get this over with"

"Today, Finn," Clarke said

"Aye, aye, captain. See you on the other side." 

"Wait." Jasper stopped him

"What?"

"Let me. I can do it."

"Knew there was a badass in there somewhere.Hey, it's okay to be afraid, Jasper. The trick is not fighting it."

 Jasper nodded "See you on the other side."

I closed my eyes wishing it didn't snap and then cheers erupted from the others and there he was he had made it to the other side and then boom out of know where a spear to the heart 

"Jasper" I screamed 

"We aren't alone out here," Clarke said

And then we ran.
