Sakura and Shisui were sat silently on a branch of a tree that overlooked the clearing that was apparently the entrance to some sort of underground base belonging to the secret organisation they were keeping an eye out for. The sun had reached it's peak hours before and the curly haired Uchiha was growing tired of the silence between himself and his teammate.
"So Emerald-san, did you manage to see any distinguishable features of any of the three people you saw in the bar?" He asked as he looked to his left at his cloaked teammate.
Sakura nodded her head but made no sound as she continued to stare intently down at the clearing. The pinkette's ears were perked, listening out for anything abnormal in their surroundings. The four year old was completely on guard and she remained focused on the environment to make sure that they wouldn't play victim to any surprise attacks.
The Uchiha sighed as his body slumped, the girl could be worse then Itachi!
Shisui wondered how the emerald masked child- because he had heard her voice and he knew that she was indeed a youngling- had been brought up. Itachi had been trained since he could walk since he was a clan heir and because of the fact that he was a prodigy he was under even more pressure. Shisui, being a prodigy himself, knew the trauma and stress that came along with being talented, as he liked to call it.
The Uchiha was brought out of his thoughts by his small teammate tensing. Her subtle movements had revealed her clothes and Shisui's eyes examined the black capris and the black non-sleeved, high collard shirt she donned. His brows furrowed, the sky was painted in orange and pinks as the sun slipped past the horizon. He moved over slightly, his arm brushing against the youngling's side. He took out a kunai and cautiously looked around.
"Hey Emerald-san, erm.. not that I don't trust you or anything but why are you so tense?" Technically he hadn't lied when he said he trusted her since he did, well, he trusted her more then he did Swirl-san. The hooded child's muscles relaxed slightly at his words before the girl lowered her head.
"Mm, I fear we are not alone.." He barely heard her quiet voice but his face turned solemn as he understood what she was saying.
He reached out with his chakra, seeing if he could pick up on whoever his teammate had sensed. It was small but there was defiantly someone about half a mile away from their currant position.
"Do we engage?" Usually Shisui didn't question every action he did on a mission but since he was working with two people he had never met before he would have to adapt to how they handled different situations and what not.
Sakura bit her lip as she thought over what to do. They could stay where they were and report the chakra signature to Nozomi-san later or they could go and see who the signature belonged to and then decide how to proceed. Her brows furrowed as she came to her decision.
"Let's go check it out, we'll decide what to do from there. Eto.. you have an animal summon right?" The twelve year old nodded. "Can you summon one to keep an eye out on the clearing?" They could just have Shisui's summon go have a look at whoever she had sensed but it would be good for the two to stretch their legs.
"Sure!" The preteen grinned at her before biting his thumb and slamming his hand on the branch they were on. A seal appeared on the wood before there was a cloud of smoke that obscured the fancy patterns from sight. Once the smoke had evanesced Sakura saw a dark feathered crow sitting where Shisui had previously slammed his hand down on the tree.
The animal summon seemed to understand exactly what it had to do and nodded at the two ninja before flying onto the branch above. Shisui turned to look at his teammate.
"Ready?" He asked. The girl nodded and they headed off, leaping from branch to branch.
As they got closer to the chakra signature Shisui got a vague feeling of deja vu. The preteen was, of course, clueless as to why so he just shrugged it off and continued travelling.
Sakura halted and Shisui turned back to look at her questioningly when he realised just why his teammate had stopped. The chakra signature had gotten very close. Closer then it should be.
They crouched on the branch they were on and jumped silently from tree to tree until they spotted a black haired woman picking some herbs. The woman's back was facing the two but she had her long hair tied into a plait down her back. Shisui also noticed a basket in the lady's hand, it was only half full and the Uchiha knew that she most likely wouldn't be able to fill her basket completely since there weren't many herbs in the area.
Under her mask, Sakura was frowning. The woman looked oddly familiar yet for some reason the pinkette just couldn't place where she'd seen the female before. She observed the way the female moved, how the woman harvested the Oregano and the way she placed the herb in her basket. The female's shoulders were tense as if she was on guard..
The black haired woman had defiantly been enlightened about how one should harvest Oregano for she was doing so with a practiced hand.
'Perhaps she works as an apprentice to a doctor?' The girl thought as she watched the lady harvest the last of the Oregano and get up from her position on the ground. The black haired woman rushed off and neither Shisui nor Sakura managed to see her face which was really quite bizarre since they were both shinobi and the woman looked to be a civilian.
Once the woman had disappeared from their sight Shisui turned to his teammate.
"Shall we go now?" The curly haired preteen asked. Sakura looked at him through her mask before nodding her head and off they went back to 'Watch the Clearing' duty.
