Days passed, and yet the pain remained, but Lyra was learning to live with it. She had began to learn how to be a mother, and things were starting to turn for the better. She had sent orders in for the portraits, and after a few months, she would finally recieve them. She hated the idea of having a wall full of portraits of the people she had lost, but at least that meant that she was still able to talk to them, even if they really were gone.

Andromeda stayed for a week, almost two, before she found herself a place nearby. She was right off of tribal land, which was what Lyra thought best for her. Jared had come by each day, but when he did, Lyra hid Andromeda and Teddy from him. Finally though, she had decided it was time to tell him the truth; all of it. She invited him over, and there she sat waiting for him, with Teddy laying asleep in her arms. When she heard a knock at the door, she knew he had finally arrived.

"Ducky, get the door please, and bring Jared in here." She said, and the happy house elf agreed.

Ducky apparated to the door, before she swung it opened and greeted Jared. The house elf lead Jared to the sitting room where Lyra was sitting with Teddy.

"W-what is this?" He asked, his eyes widening at the sight of the baby in his imprint's arms.

"I believe I have some things to tell you.' She commented, and Jared nodded.

"I think you do, too." He murmured, afraid to step forward.

Lyra sighed quietly, before motioning for Jared to sit with her. She sat facing him, as he had chosen the couch across from her. She understood he was skeptical though, and so she didn't say anything to him, or joke about the fact that he seemed to ve avoiding her like the plague.

"When I was gone, there was a war; two teams fighting for power. I know you remember what I've told you about the Dark Lord and his followers, but on the opposite side was the Order. I was a part of the Order, but I had to run to protect them. Barely a month after I went back, the war happened. Blood was spilled, and lives were lost. I had already lost so much; my father, my mother, Uncle Reggie, Prongs, and Aunt Lily. That was just in the beginning, during the fight; the actual fight, I lost more. Fred Weasley, a dear friend of mine, lost his life in the war, but what hurt the most was seeing the bodies of Moony and Dora.

The night before, Moony and Dora had sat me down and told me that they wanted me to do something for them. Dora's mother, she came with me here. I couldn't leave her behind. We were all each other had left of our family, for the most, and that's what hurt most. I still have the Weasleys, Hermione, Harry--yes, but they hadn't been my original family, other than Harry, and I blamed him for so much. I hate myself for it, but I can't get rid of the feeling. One day I will see him again, and let bygones be bygones, but until then, I will be staying away from that world the best I can.

I came here to deal with the loss, the grief, but it still follows me everywhere I go. After making my promise to Moony and Dora though, I couldn't let my grief overwhelm me. I don't push it away and bottle it up completely, but I do a bit to keep myself sane. I promised them, I'd care for him, raise him, love him as my own. I have been every second since the moment I knew they were dead. He may not be mine by blood, but for my family, he is my son." Lyra explained, sighing to herself.

"I know you said Andromeda came with you, but I don't smell her anymore." He commented, and she nodded.

"Yes, she decided to find her own place. She wanted to have her own space, and have the potential to grieve, but still be close to the last of her family. She refuses to talk to her sister, which I completely understand. Her sister and her nephew had been on the opposing side, and for that, she could never forgive them." Lyra replied, causing Jared to sigh.

"What's his name--your son?" Jared asked, the words feeling foreign falling from his lips.

Lyra smiled at the boy, sticking out her hand to motion for him to come over. He slowly stood up and walked over to her, sitting down carefully next to the girl and the baby. Lyra turned the child so Jared could see his face, and he watched as the boy's eyes fluttered open.

"Jared, meet Teddy Remus Lupin-Black," Lyra said,"I had to change his name for legal reasons, pertaining to the Ministry." She added, though the last part was quiet, and not that important.

Jared smiled down at the little boy, slowly raising his hand to touch the little boy's tiny hand. When Jared's warm finger was wrapped in Teddy's hand, Teddy looked up at the man more. For a moment, the two shared eye contact, before Jared watched as Teddy's features changed.

"I forgot to tell you, he's a metamorphagus like Dora was." Lyra said, smiling down at the little boy.

"He's adorable, Lyra. You should be very proud of him, and of yourself. I don't know anyone who would've had the same willpower as you to take him in after all the loss." Jared commented, causing Lyra to sigh.

"I had to, he's my family. I will always look out for my family." Lyra replied, kissing the top of Teddy's head.

Teddy was forever going to be her baby, and she was going to love him as so. Jared realized that the moment he seen the love in her eyes for the boy in her arms, but instead of feeling jealous, Jared understood. He was going to love him, too, just for Lyra. He was going to show him the love he would always need, just as Lyra was doing for the boy as well...
