"Okay. Be honest, uh, do you guys understand any of this?" Steve asked, pointing at the comic book in his hand.
"No." Lucas quickly answered, confusion placed onto his face as he and Max read through it.
"Pretty straightforward." Dustin shrugged.
"Oh, straightforward. Really?" Steve said, annoyed.
"Ok. What's confusing to you?" Dustin asked, "So far, everyone Vecna has cursed has died, except for this old Victor Creel dude Nancy found. He's the only known survivor. If anyone knows how to beat this curse, it's him."
"That's assuming he was cursed, Henderson — which we don't even know." Steve told Dustin.
"How can Vecna have existed in the '50s? It doesn't make sense." Steve mumbled to himself, rubbing his forehead.
"As far as we know, Eleven didn't create the Upside Down — she opened a gate to it. The Upside Down has probably been around for thousands of years. Millions. I wouldn't be surprised if it pre-dated the dinosaurs—"
"Dinosaurs? What are we—"
"Ok. Ok. But, If a gate didn't exist in the '50s, how did Vecna get through?" Lucas wondered.
"Oh, and how is he getting through now?" Steve asked, pointing at Lucas. "And why now." Lucas added on as Dustin rolled his eyes at his two friends.
"And why then? Just pops out in the '50s, kills one family, and he's like, 'I'm good'. And poof, he just disappears, Just — gone? Only to return 30 years later and start killing some random teens? No, I don't buy it."
"Straightforward, my ass. Honestly, Henderson, a little humility every now and then, it wouldn't hurt you." Steve told Dustin, scrunching up his face as he sat down. "Sorry." Dustin apologized.
"What do you think she's writing about?" Max suddenly asked, her eyes placed onto the older girl. The three boys looked towards Y/n. "Did she sleep?" Dustin asked.
"I mean — would you?" Lucas questioned.
The door to the basement suddenly slams open, Robin and Nancy descending down the stairs. "Okay, so, we have a plan." Nancy told the group, smiling.
"Thanks to Nancy's newspaper minions, we are now rock-star psychology students at the University of Notre Dame." Robin explained.
"I'm now Ruth." Nancy stated.
"And, I'm Rose." Robin added.
"Ruth?" Steve questioned, raising a brow at Nancy which the girl nodded at.
"Nice GPA." Dustin complimented Nancy as he looked at the paper the girls gave, "Thanks."
"So, we called Pennhurst Asylum, told them we'd like to speak with Victor Creel for a thesis we're co-writing on paranoid schizophrenics—"
"To which they said no."
"But, we landed a three o'clock with the director." Nancy said, "Now, all we have to do is charm him and convince him to let us talk to Victor."
"Then maybe we can rid Y/n of this curse." Nancy states, looking at the Y/n, who was still writing — not paying any attention to the group.
"Yeah, about that — we've been doing our Victor Creel homework, and, uh, we got some questions." Steve told the two girls.
"Lots of questions."
"So do we, hopefully, Victor has the answers." Nancy told the boys.
"Wait — wait — wait a second. Uh, where's mine?" Steve asked, laughing as he questioned where his paper was. Nancy gave Steve a sheepish look.
