Chapter 33
Bait

A week after.

Kleya spoke on the intercom, announcing something which made me panicked. "Madam, the CEO of HWGMC have arrived. Will you let him in?"

"I-I thought he's going to send his secretary instead! How dare him?!" I screamed in panic. Oh come on, Shin (Y/N) why are you even panicking?!

"He said he wants to further explain the proposal personally to you." Kleya answered with a little giggle at the end part.

"Wait. Wait a minute. Just wait. Don't let him in just yet." I said, repeatedly before turning away from the intercom.

I hurriedly looked at myself in the mirror and saw how tired and haggard I was. I quickly put out my lipstick and blush on from my purse and do some retouching. For your information, I'm not doing this for him. I'm definitely doing this for myself, only.

I put on a matte red lipstick then I combed my now straight hair with my fingers. I have given myself a healthier lifestyle and more productive habits to make myself better. I also straightened my hair a few years ago because my wavy hair is sometimes annoying to comb especially when it's tangled.

Good thing I'm wearing my corporate attire and heels. That way I have no problem with my clothes at all.

I let out a huge sigh before tapping the intercom and saying, "Let him in."

Afterwards, I quickly stared at my laptop and started using the cursor to make it look like I'm busy and I do not give a care about his arrival. I really don't care, it's just that, I was not expecting him to come here this day. If only I knew.

The door suddenly opened and the next thing I heard was the sound of his footsteps. Each step contributing to the loud beating of my heart and the haywiring of my whole system. Damn it (Y/N), get a hold of yourself.

"Looks like someone's busy." I heard him said while he stood in front of my desk.

I looked at him with a frown of annoyance. "Is that how you greet a future business partner?"

"My bad." He smirked. "Hwang Hyunjin, CEO of HWG Motors Company, milady." He offered his hand for a handshake.

I stood up and accepted it. His touch still feels the same. Soft and gentle. But now's not the time to remember the past. Nothing is special to him right now and I must convince myself of that obvious fact.

He stared at me with a smug expression on his face. His hair is colored red again and it freely strays around or sometimes in front of his face. Just like the usual, he uses his slender fingers to brush it backwards with matching clenching of the jaw.

"You probably know the reason why I'm here, Miss Shin. I'm offering you a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm confident that if you don't accept it, this will be the downfall of your company." He started the moment he sat on the seat in front of me.
