Athena POV
This darkness had become my friend.
Or foe.
There was nothing but pitch blackness. I couldn't even see my hands or feet, yet I felt myself walking.
Walking.
And walking.
Turning my head side to side, yet all that greeted me was more nothingness.
Lonely.
I felt so lonely.
I had been in this void for who knows how long, but it felt like eternity.
I felt tears run down my cheeks but when I wiped them, I couldn't see them.
I couldn't get out.
The consistent pain had become nothing compared to the frustration I had for being lost.
I couldn't see my mate or my friend. Not my parents. Not myself.
But then I heard it.
His voice.
It sounded as if he was screaming at me.
"I'M SOOORRYYYY! IM SOO SOORRRYYY!"
I wanted to scream back at him. I wanted him to know I was here.
But nothing came out.
The electricity I started feeling could only be from his touch.
I felt warmth.
I hadn't noticed how cold I had felt before.
I felt more pain. Worse than before, but it subsided as I started running through the abyss.
Running to find him.
I had to find him.
And then something worse happened.
The pain in my shoulder had me screaming. I couldn't hear myself screaming, but I could feel my vocal cords vibrating harshly.
And then my arm.
The pain was excruciating.
I screamed again.
And I kept screaming through the pain.
A light.
It's blinding.
I swear I can see trees zooming past.
But the pain.
I couldn't move, but I had to.
I needed to get to the light.
So I ran.
I ran as I screamed.
I ran as the pain spread through my whole body.
The fire beneath my skin was like nothing I had ever felt.
I was getting closer.
So close.
I reached my hand out and the light flickered, so I ran harder.
I jumped.
Face first into the light.
The pain was so much worse in the light.
My screams had finally touched my eardrums.
I almost comforted the pain.
Then it was gone.
I was pulled back and the pain started to subside, but my heart ached now.
The pain in my veins now seemed nothing compared to the pain in my chest.
