Heads Up!

It was a beautiful, hot day in Salem, South Carolina. I know, I know what you are thinking. I am not a witch. I am just a 25 African American woman with light brown skin and brown curly hair with pink highlights. My frame is curvy, with hips made to give birth and breast to match. The only thing I wish I could change is my 5'1 frame and plain brown eyes. But, back to the weather.

It was a hot June day. Beautiful. But, it was so hot you could see the waves of heat in the air.

It was the weekend, so I had the day off. With nothing else to do, I called up my friends, and we went to the lake.

Lake Jocassee was beautiful this time of year. There were several people fishing when we arrived. I was with my friends Tori and Minnie. They have been my friends since kindergarten. Tori was short for Victoria. She is of Hispanic descent with a J-Lo body with a Latina attitude to match. Minnie's real name is Minerva. But she hated her name before she could even spell it. Her studious looks contrast greatly with her rebel nature. She was the one that got us in all types of trouble. She is the smallest out of the three of us. Her caramel skin and long jet-black hair showed off her Native American heritage. Her slight, thin 5'7" frame made her perfect for the runway.

We made a little picnic area close to where the White Water River and Lake Jocassee meet. IT was a lovely spot where we could see the lake and boat fishing. While still being able to dip our feet in the water to cool off. We had been enjoying our leisure-filled girl's day when Tori spotted her kryptonite... MEN.

There was a group of men pulling up in a truck. I took a quick glance. There were three men. I didn't really come here for men. I chose to ignore them. I was starting to get hot. So, I decided to stick my feet in the water. I stared at my watery reflection as I let the water drift over my toes.

"Heads Up!"

I heard the warning shout, but as I looked up, I saw a brown football heading straight for me. Before I could move, the ball hit me straight in my head. The next thing I knew, I was in the water.
